- Tristan A. HayesBrisk Entertaining ReadWhile Solo Leveling may not set out to make inroads into uncharted territory, it does cover well tread upon ground with well worn shoes showing that it has experience navigating these paths. The writing is crisp, refreshing, and brisk making the hours it takes to read all 330 pages pass in flash. Honestly, I finished it in one sitting and never felt board the entire time. In fact, I felt pretty on edge turning each page in a flurry as I just had to see that which came next. Every development for Jinwoo Sung was one I needed to see immediately. The potential hurt, harm, and danger the writer established early on and his avoidance of giving characters plot armor meant any and everyone, including Jinwoo Sung has the potential to get hurt. While the player system blesses him at times it also isn't afraid to punish him, for example, it clearly will up the difficulty when next he goes through a penalty game, and along those lines, it wasn't afraid to put him in a practically impossible scenario on his job change quest. I look forward to more of these nail biters and personally, look forward to more intelligent lifeform bosses that he may encounter. I just cant imagine what he will do when he is faced with an even more serious threat in an environment that he has no character build ready for.
The side characters such as Jinho continue to be a highlight and he's quickly become my favorite character. I do hope we get more development for him as he is great at showing how bright eyed and bushy tailed some hunters can be. He is also earnest, wears his heart on his sleeve, and is trustworthy, characteristics which helps to keep Jinwoo grounded and from going off the deep end so to speak. I really do hope he stays with him now that they finished their 20 quest thing and they establish their own guild. I think of Sword Art Online in this case and how Kirito remembered solo for so long before being taken into a guild and things changing. In this case, I hope Jinwoo and Jinho remained as they are and dont get taken into one of the larger main Korean guilds.
Lore wise there is plenty here and I look forward to it. This is the second volume with a tease of a bitter Korean foe nestled in the United States so one wonders how and when he will get on a flight to Seoul. Additionally, the tease of Jinwoo's father? What's up with that.
Fantastic story. - TravisEven Better Than the First!Wow, Solo Leveling Vol. 2 really steps it up! Jinwoo just keeps getting stronger and the story gets even more intense. I seriously couldn't stop reading, it's that good. If you liked the first one, you'll love this.
- Olivia HamiltonEnjoymentI started reading this because I enjoy the anime and I am enjoying the light novel and following the progress of Jinwoo Sung.
- TomcatGreat worldbuilding and plot. This volume is even better than the previous one. The author does a great job building this "game world" and at the same time with a very interesting plot, revealing just enough to keep you reading. The "game mechanics" are also well implemented and really cool, with a wide variety of items, monsters and bosses. The characters are well developed and engaging, with good action scenes and a plot that gets better throughout the book.
- ChrisFantastic fantasy RPG novelI'm loving this so far. I love the humor especially. Hope this keeps going. My son showed me the show on Crunchy Roll tv and I got to the cliff hanger and he told me how far out the projected next season was and I decided I could not wait that long
- NikkiReally Good Read!I always enjoy to read a light novel because of the details presented in the book. This book is definitely one of those books where the details are important whereas in the anime, the details are easy to overlook. The plot is really intriguing. Jinwoo Sung’s abilities are getting more impressive and the plot takes a sudden turn. I will definitely be reading Solo Leveling Vol.3.

- Kristin Ballardamazing but one little thingAmazing book, was really fun to read but chapter one was a little bit too long, it had so many opportunities to end the chapter but it didn’t. Still amazing book i think everyone who likes action packed books should read it………..but don’t be stupid this is book two.
