- ShaneGets the job done!Gets the job done! After a bad snow storm & shoveling I had a stubborn patch of ice in front my garage. After throwing down this salt it cleared up the ice well. It also worked well on small patches of snow. This was not as expensive as some other brands but works excellently. Also it stayed in place after being driven over, so very durable. An excellent product.

- Pixie Power! ®Works well, not sure how pet safeI couldn't find on the package readily what it contains. It suggests it contains half the chlorides. Chloride means salt basically. Salt is an issue for pets, as it causes heat when wet (it gets into the areas between their pads, gets wet, and can cause physical burns to their flesh).
The pet safe, child safe mentioning must be about if ingested. However, the issue with ice melts is the actual salt/chlorides.
Anyhow, I used it (needed to). It melts really well. I will say that anything truly pet safe is going to be bad at melting the ice. But, that's what I usually am using and applying (along with some play sand from the local Walmart). I'll be looking for something without the chlorides again. The local stores had sold out with this storm, and I could get this delivered the same day. We were to get a "dusting" and got inches instead (the schools failed to cancel and there were a lot of accidents, the buses ran way behind).
So, thumbs up to Amazon for same day delivery. But, looking for a product that won't burn the dog's paw pads. - Bonnie N.Excellent, non-toxic ice melt which is safe for pets!Such a relief to know that in using this I'm not harming wildlife, the environment, or other animals or pets. It works great, and one application during a particularly nasty ice storm seemed to outperform the synthetic, chemical-laden ice melt products out there. I love that this is safe for pets, and it also means less weird chemicals being tracked into the home - which is particularly of concern if you have young children, babies, or pets. (Not to mention annoying because the dust particles could potentially impact your sourdough starter on the counter or any food, water, or drinks exposed to the air.)

- JimThis works well! But questionable shipping.I like this and it works pretty well even in 5 degrees F. Plus my dogs have no paw troubles walking on it. But the last time I ordered it, they stuffed it (and I mean stuffed it!) in a USPS mail pouch. It was basically like having a bag over the actual product bag but folded up and smaller. For which the mail person then stuffed it into my mailbox. I'm surprised it didn't get stuck in my mailbox and break open. It nearly did! I"ll have to see if I can find an alternative supplier with a better shipping method. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've purchased it. But the first time it was shipped like that.
