  • Bittersweet end of an era????
Here’s to our one last trip to the Windy City. I cannot believe it is the end of an era. This series from the very beginning has held such a special place in my heart and I will love these characters and their stories forever. Even though this is goodbye, this is a series I will just continue to reread. I have loved each character in their own way and that is no different for Monty and Reese.

We meet Emmett or as some call him Monty or Miller’s hot dad in Caught Up. He is the field manager for the Windy City Warriors. This man is everything not only is he hot cuz who doesn’t love a man with tattoos, he has the biggest heart, selfless and he loves hard. The way he loves Miller, are there for Kai and Isaiah like a dad and loves his players like they are all family. He is just perfect in every way. Our baddie girl, Reese enters the series in Play Along when she starts shadowing her grandfather to take over owner for the Warriors. She is an absolute queen. She is confident, fearless and takes no crap from anyone. Being the first female team owner comes with plenty of challenges but she takes it all on with her head held high proving them all wrong.

Monty and Reese together are the absolute power couple. Their relationship starts with tension and plenty of push and pull but the way these two starts to truly get to know one another and grow a relationship is everything. They both know exactly what they want for themselves, their relationship and careers and are not afraid to go after it. Monty supports Reese and knows she can handle it all on her own but he is always there supporting her. The way they can both let their guards down together and lean on one another. I’m so glad they got their happily ever after because they both deserve all the good things.

I loved getting more from the baseball team and of course our favorite 4 people. Kai, Miller, Kennedy and Isaiah are their number one cheerleaders and supported Monty and Reese from day one. I just loved being back in this world and all the fun that comes with it. Although In Her Own League is a spin off and can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the entire Windy City series.
  • Phenomenal Writing!
The way I am obsessed with main characters Reese and Emmett is just unreal..they seriously have had me in a chokehold. Their dynamic, the constant push pull, their undeniable chemistry was so HOTTTT. It got so intense at times and I loved it!! The banter was amazing. The vibes were just phenomenal. Reese and Emmett have been living rent free in my brain for over a week now and I can’t wait to listen and do a re-read!! In Her Own League was literally perfection and lived up to the hype! Easily a top read of the year for me! The way Liz sucks you into the story instantly is amazing. I absolutely love Liz’s writing so much - it’s captivating, witty, intentional, and so mature with no bull crap. Reese is probably my most favorite FMC to date. She’s confident and fierce, but also vulnerable. I truly can’t wait for you all to experience this book yourselves!
  • Home run!
We headed back to the Windy City to reunite with our favorite baseball team, the Windy City Warriors, and it was everything I hoped it would be. This has been one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I am such a huge fan of the Windy City universe, and finally getting Monty’s story felt long overdue in the best way. Getting more backstory on Emmett and his relationship with Miller’s mom added so much for me. I loved it. And being back with Kai and Miller, Isaiah and Kennedy, and of course Max… it felt like coming home.

Now let’s talk about Reese Remington.
She is easily one of my favorite FMCs ever. A queen. Stepping into impossible circumstances as the first female and youngest baseball owner, carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, and still owning every room she walks into. And then there’s the undeniable pull toward Emmett while it feels like everyone is against her. Except the Rhodes boys. And except Monty.

Their tension. Their banter. The buildup. Absolute perfection.

But where this truly knocked it out of the park for me was the narration.
When Jason Clarke was announced as Emmett, I was already seated. He thrives in age gap romance, and that deep baritone of his does not just exist. It resonates. It settles in your chest. He plays Monty as guarded and controlled on the surface, but underneath you feel the protector, the softness, the man who just wants to love and be loved. It was swoony in the most grounded, masculine way.

And Samantha Brentmoor as Reese. Unreal.
Her voice is velvet and power all at once. Late night confession meets corner office command. She embodies strength without losing vulnerability. She does not just narrate a character. She becomes her.

Five stars. A million stars. A home run. Absolutely knocked it out of the park.
