  • OBSESSED
First thank you to Briar and the publishers for an earc of this book.

Second…. What the heck!!! I can’t even begin to describe everything I read in this book and I feel like I need a week to process it all. So much seemed to happen and then so much did happen… some unexpected that I didn’t see coming. It wow I enjoyed every chapter this book had to offer!

I will say having multiple points of views from the characters might make the story seem a little hard, but Briar made each one work perfectly. She showed me some views that I was not expecting and it goes to show “never judge a book by its cover”

Last, I want to say “what the heck was that ending?” I am going to need the next book like yesterday ????
  • 10/10
Without giving too many details of the book, all I've got to say and quote from Briar herself is, "Please don’t throw your Kindles too hard." We learn a few new things about the dragons, Medra, Blake, and many more in this book. Briar did a fantastic job of showing us even more character growth in this book.
I personally wasn't expecting the amount of pov changes in this one compared to the other 2 in the series. Be prepared for that if you're the type that doesn't like it as much.

Again I'd like to thank Briar Boleyn, MIRA, and Netgalley for giving me this opportunity to read this book
  • What a series!
I truly love this series. I did feel a little lost at times with all the different points of view in this book, but it definitely got better from the middle toward the end. I also wish there had been more of Medra and Blake, but I understand that the other characters have important roles to play as well. I’m just hoping everyone gets a happy ending by book four. It’s definitely worth the read!
  • Loved this book!
“You aren’t just in my heart—you are my heart. You are written in my blood.” ♥️

Wow oh wow. Briar has done it again! This series is one of my all time favorite dark academia/romantasy series and this installment was amazing! I love that we actually see the characters going to different classes because I feel like there have been a ton of “academia” books lately that just completely ignore that aspect altogether. So, it’s actually refreshing to read about the classes and the professors!

This book read like a “middle of a series” book, so yes, there were some slow parts. But the build up to the insane ending and where things will go in the final book was well worth the read!

While we got a good chunk of story between Medra and Blake, we also saw a lot more from Regan, Florence and the rest of the crew (which by the way I love all of the characters). More secrets are revealed, tension is high, and things are about to get even more crazy. I will be counting down the days until the next book is released!

Thank you so much to MIRA, HTP Hive, and Briar Boleyn for the advanced copy!
  • Great recap of book 2, read this in 4 days! The series just gets better!
I received this as an e-ARC and this is my honest review.

I again devoured another Bloodwing Academy book, The Wings that Bind, and am shaking my head with a smile of how deliciously satisfying it was yet I’m left hanging for book 4, With Hearts of Flame!

I was anxiously waiting to find out what was the state of all the characters from where things left off from book 2. Things are brought right back into the academy and things are a bit out of sorts due to the ending of book 2. Seems like characters are recovering just as much as I am from where things left off.

Boleyn did an excellent job recapping what all has happened in the first two books. Definitely helped in trying to remember everything that has happened thus far.

So many things are happening in the academy and a good portion of tense drama. Of course things are on and off again like Ross and Rachel with Medra and Blake. Kage is still mysterious as fog. And things get interesting with Florence and Regan.

Oh, Florence. So sweet, so kind, and innocent. Kind of. Following her POV feels like a coming-of-age and her bond with Nyxaris gets quite interesting. Curious to see how far her rider bond goes and what challenges will arise with such power.

The new POV of Regan had me questioning how much of a villain she truly is. Is she evil to the core or just trying to survive and make the most of the cards she’s been dealt with? The truths she discovers offers more depth to her as a character that she’s not just a villain, maybe evil is something you’re born with, but created.
  • Addictive. Character driven. Intense ????
    4.5 ⭐ rounded up to 5 - ????️????️????️

I seriously could not put this book down and got mad when I was forced to. The story is told through multiple POVs, and every storyline felt entertaining and refreshing. The banter between characters was fantastic and had me hanging on every conversation.

The book is very fast paced, especially toward the end. The final stretch was packed with action and detailed scenes, which personally isn’t my favorite since I tend to skim those types of moments. But if you love high intensity action, you will probably enjoy that part.

Medra is as fierce as ever, always putting herself out there and standing up for those who cannot defend themselves. I really enjoyed seeing her relationship with Blake continue to develop and the way they accept each other fully. Blake faces some new inner struggles in this one, and one twist had me genuinely stressed. I still love his very possessive personality.

Florence, Medra’s nerdy best friend, showed so much growth in this book. I absolutely loved seeing more of her, especially her connection with her dragon. Reagan’s storyline also deepens here, revealing more about her past and the trauma that shaped her actions in earlier books. It honestly made me feel for her character a lot more.

There are also several new relationships brewing, and I am very curious to see where those go in future books.

I’m always a sucker for dark academia, so the school setting was a huge win for me. The environment really keeps that survival of the fittest feeling throughout the story.

The book ends on several major cliffhangers and now I’m just sad I don’t have book four in my hands yet!
