- DetailedVery sturdyLooks very sturdy. It has considerable extra support in the back unlike the cheap shovel I recently replaced because it broke. It was very easy to assemble. Nice combination for pushing and lifting.
- Poet LinguistStill going strong after 2 seasons and heavy use!I have two of these now, the one on the left in the picture is my first purchased in 2021 (still going strong!). It is the one that requires assembly that I purchased on Amazon. I agree with some commenters regarding the location of the connection nut and bolt on the handle, but it's not a show stopper if you have gloves on. I would still buy it again, and actually thought I was when I purchased the other one (on the right in the picture). The other one in the picture has a one-piece handle and came assembled. It's the model SC2700. The bucket/steel strip is identical, with the only difference being the handles. The new one-piece seems robust and I am not worried about it breaking, but we'll have to put it to the test to be sure. These AREN'T made for chopping ice or putting your boot down on the backside like a regular steel shovel, so if you do that expect breakage. I bought the SC2700 on another site as it wasn't available on Amazon at the time; as I said, it comes assembled and ready for action. I purchased it in case I have assistants helping me with the shoveling and wanted to prevent the complaint of "you have the good shovel". Now we'll all have the good shovel. They're not "lightweight" shovels despite so many people using that word, but I guess weight is subjective based on one's own strength. It's not super heavy, but it's surely not lightweight, which is good in my opinion. Add either one of these (two-piece handle or the one-piece SC2700) to your snow clearing equipment and you'll be glad you did. Happy shoveling.
- spritelWarped Shovel Base & Loose HandleBought two of these Suncast snow shovels because I had one for 10 years and it held up surprisingly well. I don't care for the 2 piece pole but it makes sense for shipping. Both handles on my new shovels were loose even after I tried tightening the handles screws. I believe if the handles remained loose they would eventually break from the sloppy wriggling whilst shoveling. I have read reviews from other users of this shovel complain of the handle breaking. To help remedy this potential problem I removed both handles and duct taped them going around the pole 4-5 times with the tape and then screwed the handles back on and it was nice and sturdy with no wriggling whatsoever. If you have this shovel and your handle is loose and decide to try this yourself it's important to put the handle back on the same way you took it off. What I mean is that the screws are put in the handle on each side slightly differently and the holes in the pole will only line up correctly the way the handle was originally put on at the factory. Hoping I get a few years out of these shovels before they break as most all of the plastic snow shovels I've read user reviews on seem to break fairly quickly no matter the manufacturer even if the manufacturer was known to make decent plastic snow shovels in the past. Please look at my photos for reference. I included my broken 10yo Suncast shovel for comparison as well as the bottom of the shovel is made a little bit differently on the new Suncast snow shovels.

- James O BendicksonProduct shipped to me was defective, returned unusedI purchased a Suncast snow shovel several years ago from a local store. I loved this shovel. After several years of use, it was beginning to show some wear and tear. I wasn't able to find the same shovel in any retail stores. But I really liked the shovel so I decided to order a similar (unable to find an exact match online) shovel, thinking the quality of my first Suncast shovel would be apparent in a 'similar' replacement. When it finally arrived over a month later, I was immediately disappointed. The two piece handle (connects together with a bolt through the middle) was weak - and I knew it wouldn't hold up to the even light use, let alone survive through a tough Montana winter. Additionally, the 'blade' (metal piece on the forward face of the shovel) was not straight - it was curved slightly, which means the blade would not sit flat on any surface I wanted to remove snow from. I returned the shovel and received a full refund. I am disappointed that the quality that Suncast incorporated into the product I purchased several years ago is no longer available. I have now used some gorilla tape to help reinforce my nearly worn out shovel and will get a couple more years out of it.
