Like from the second I started it, it consumed me. Completely. Otherworldly. Rue & Kane were absolute perfection, separately and together.
This book has so many of my favorite tropes, from a grumpy reaper to a sunshiny black cat mom and the love that's forbidden but fate leaves them no choice but to fall. The banter between Rue & Kane was masterful, but DJ Krimmer & Joe Arden are masters at that so it's no surprise. The passion between them was a delicious slow burn that left me absolutely melting.
This exquisite tale of life, death and falling in love when time is against you is intricately woven together. I laughed, I cried, I became a part of the story for a moment in time. Kane & Rue were the epitome of a perfect book couple and I didn't want to say goodbye!
If you love paranormal, otherworldly stories, then this one is one you must grab up. It's a poetic tale (thank you,Joe Arden!) filled with humor, spice and every emotion(thank you, DJ Krimmer!)! I cannot wait to hear this one in audio!

It is a soul gripping, heart twisting, mind blowing Gothic Romance that will live on, deep, deep, deep in your soul. My mind is still reeling from the incredible EXPERIENCE this audiobook gave me.
Rue & Kane. Oh, my sweet loves, how you twisted my entire mind & soul. You consumed me. You made me smile, you made me giggle, YOU MADE ME CRY!!!!! I will forever love this audiobook and these characters. As someone who has experienced loss & grief many times over, this story is filled with raw emotions and brought ALL THE FEELS that come with those.
The six amazing narrators didn't just narrate. THEY PERFORMED. From Rue all the way to Seek, they embodied each & every character masterfully. Each comedic moment was timed beautifully. Each raw emotion was drawn out. Each moment of chemistry between Rue & Kane was magnificent. The talent that was chosen to bring this story to our ears and to life....they were absolute perfection!

It's romantic, it's poetic, it's gothic, it's emotional. - EttiA beautiful, powerful and meaningful love storyThis is a very beautiful and powerful story about life, loss, grief and second chances. There is also so much love in it -deep love, passionate love, love between a child and a parent, love filled with compassion, love for stories and art, and simply the love for the beauty of life.
This book mixes seamlessly so many opposites and a whole range of human emotions. It's heartbreakingly sad, while full with so much hope and light at the same time. It's a very meaningful story that explores serious themes, like purpose, legacy, and what is important, when the time is very limited, and it's also very entertaining.
The worldbuilding is detailed and fascinating - both in our world - the city where Rue lives, and especially her house, and the intimidating OtherWorld. Even if you are not familiar with fantastical worlds - without too long descriptions, the words will make you see this one in your head better than a movie.
The words will also make you feel every emotion. The writing is stunningly beautiful, and so easy to read. Both authors are incredible at making the reader experience the emotions instead of just telling them.
This story has the most heartbreaking scenes I've ever read in a book. There is a HEA, but before that there are powerful, meaningful, devastating scenes that will leave a deep mark.
One of the most amazing things about this book are its characters. Kane stole my heart from the very beginning, with his tortured past and interesting mind. Rue is one of the most interesting characters I've read about - full of love, and life, with so many stories to tell- and only nine days to live. The connection , the chemistry between them was exceptional. And then- there are the side characters, and this book has the most memorable ones. The house ghost, Big D., Asher - all are wonderfully developed, and made the world and the story richer.Time and Fate were chillingly brilliant. There are even characters that appear only for half a chapter and still make a deep and lasting impression.

It's dark and its broody. But death is the only thing that never changes. Not even time can change Death. It is the only guarantee we all have in this life. Every story we read has it's ending. Every day has an ending and every life has an ending. If love could save, we would all live forever. But even after death, love lives on. This was a great read and i highly enjoyed it and the hope that Rue brought to the lost souls to help them find their peace.
