- Gintoki77Epic conclusion. An epic last book of this series.
Honestly, I didn't expect it to end so quickly...
I thought there would be at least 1 or 2 more, but I guess not.
Anyway, I was not disappointed.
Great fight scenes, great comedy, and great characters.
I loved when Baelin was just toying with the would-be Fae lord.
He is such a menace.
One of the best characters, hands down.
And then there was Alex and Theresa's wedding and the party.
Great finish.
Great series.
Great author.
Good job, my dude.
Keep it up! - ChrisA master class on how to end a series wellThis book was a magnificent ending to a truly epic tale. I would give it 6 stars if I could.
It had plenty of callbacks and closure to so many different threads and characters throughout the entire saga but they didn't feel like just cameo drop-ins. It was (as the whole series is) rigorous and thorough without ever feeling tedious. It had a suitably epic final battle that actually lived up to the buildup over the course of the entire series which I didn't think would be possible. I was expecting a situation where power-creep just turned it into a big slug-fest but was so pleasantly wrong. All of the wits, planning, preparation, and connections that had been built up over the entire series got their time to shine and it didn't feel forced. They felt genuinely useful and needed. With all that, it still kept great pacing with a good balance of nostalgia and action, closure and combat. There were plenty of beautiful, moving moments of reflection carefully woven in with the action along with other climactic events that had also been built up over the series just like the final battle.
It felt like a truly satisfying conclusion to the series, giving a rides-off-into-the-sunset feeling that makes it clear that this is not the end for the characters, even if it's the end of the stories.
This is, in my opinion, a master class on how to end a series well. - Brad KrielThe best story ever made. This story is without a doubt the best thing that's ever happened to me this story has carried me through so much of my life encouraging me to think adapt survive and my goodness what an epic conclusion by the traveler this book is amazing You should never stop trying to reach your dreams even if it seems like the gods of the world themselves have set out to stop you this book shows amazing level of perseverance and personality I hope that the author will continue to make a great books godspeed James Clark I think that while the story might be over the fandom Should write th story going forward LETS MAKE THIS THE NEXT UNDERTALE
- Prodigious Readerenjoyable bookI applaud the author for finishing the series. It’s tiresome to have authors write series that just peter out or go on forever. This book was hit and miss for me. I know epic battles that span hundreds of pages are enjoyed by many but it’s not for me. The other part of the book that was a miss for me was the wedding. The section of the book I thought the author did the best with was wrapping up all the storylines.
- Jeff Jorgensenfantastic endingI have really enjoyed reading this series. The characters are so well created, the story keeps moving forward at good pace, and it’s fun. This last books keeps you on the edge of seat and does a great job of bringing closure to everything. There is even some life philosophy that rang true to me. For fantasy readers, or anyone who likes a fun adventure/progression story, I can highly recommend this series.
- Mikaela DiephouseA perfect conclusion to a most wonderful seriesIf I could write a review with an absurd amount of gifs and memes, I would have in a heartbeat. Not only would it be so much easier to convey what an ABSOLUTE JOY this book series is, along with the amount of emotions this last book gave me as it expertly concluded these characters and their ultimate goals, but it would be a fitting reaction for the type of humor the author sprinkles into each of his books. Anytime I catch a reference or meme, including the SHAMELESS mention of the Rune Seeker, I can't help but giggle. All together, reading about Alex and his friends and family win in the end and have such a beautiful ending, I will always encourage people to take the leap and read this series! It was well worth every page turned.
- TaxilianDefinitely makes my top 5% list and my kids enjoyed it too.My three boys (12,14,16) love this series; the 12yo this is the first series we could get him to really read and he not only read the entire 10 book series but immediately read it again (and I think he's since read it a third time). For kids that young I wish the language was a bit lighter, but it's hard to complain when this isn't really intended as a YA series and it's not all that bad, relative to many other books in the genre.
I frequently remind my kids to "Think! Adapt!" when they are ready to give up on something or struggling to get by.
My only "complaint" is that the other 9 books have audiobooks but this one still doesn't yet =] - J. StonebrakerIn a word, EpicContent ratings: Language PG13; Violence PG13; Other PG13
I don't use the word often, and I'm not sure I've ever used it in a review, but the conclusion to the series was epic, from the final battle (which spanned more pages than many books) to the 150 or so pages of denoument, which gave a very satisfying wrapup for just about every character in the series. Frequently, when I finish a series, there's a little sadness because I want more. Sure, I'll miss Alex and the gang, but the thing I overwhelmingly felt upon finishing this one? Satisfaction, and, to me, that says a job very well done.
