- Summer of 50Great tool for what it is designed! We live in Wyoming where the wind blows every weed seed alive into our yard...mostly dandelions. I am 70 years old with rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and a torn rotator cuff and so was looking for something to help me at least with some of the weeds when I ordered this. I was disappointed that, due to Covid, I had to wait for the order instead of my 2-day Prime, but it was still worth the wait!. I showed the video to my husband of what I was expecting and he said, "That will be good...IF it works..." UPS delivered it that afternoon and without even opening the box I took it out to my husband who was "weed eating" the front yard. He has just had his 7th back surgery and had previously been trying to get out the dandelions with a different long handled tool, which I could see was straining his back. He took the new Walensee Stand Up Weed Puller out of the box and immediately starting using it. I really think he wanted to show me that it was a waste of my money! Surprise!! It was so easy and effective he worked for two hours straight. He was like a demon and was like a kid with a new toy. I have to say that I had thoroughly watered the yard that morning so the soil was damp to depth. The weed puller is light weight aluminum but has not bent with all of the use and pulled up dandelions, even the heavier-rooted ones of long-standing, and five or six other shallow to medium depth weeds including "bunch grass". We now (after he attacked the weeds again yesterday) have three huge black garbage bags filled with weeds. The plugs of dirt/clay which come out are "aerating" the lawn and flower bed at the same time as a bonus. Even though the tool was to be a help for me, it has turned into his "toy" and that is still helping me because he loves pulling those weeds. I do have to say that it does NOT pull up the crab grass (I call it "octopus grass" due to the long white runners it sends out in all directions.) but at least I don't have to pull ALL of the weeds anymore. I give it five starts, and just don't expect miracles against huge weeds and dry ground. Again I say get this. Be reasonable in your expectation. Water the ground THOROUGHLY and don't expect miracles on huge weeds with my poor aching hands anymore. Buy one! Have "fun" though, pulling up the annoyances. And yes, an adjustable height shaft would make it better and easier on backs, but all I can say is that it is the best money I've spent in a while! I'd buy it again in a hot minute.
- MichaelWorks great and seems well-built!I've used the heck out of this thing. It's very user friendly and can be used one-handed if you've got enough dexterity.
My initial thoughts were that it looks flimsy, but after some use it seems like it'll last for years. I even get my young son to go out and pluck weeds out.
Very light and easy to use. 10/10 - T. RainmanGood , but not perfectI bought this because a popular home and garden publication recommended it as a "must have" garden and lawn care tool. I will say that it mostly does what it's supposed to. I was afraid it was going to be heavy and awkward to use, but it's very light and no effort at all to maneuver eith ine hand. I spent about 20 minutes going around my yard with this gadget in one hand and a 5 gallon bucket in the other. After 20 minutes, the pail was 3/4 full of weeds, far faster than I could have done it crawling around on my hands and knees. It works on dandelions, plantain, and many other weeds. Spreading weeds like spurge, creeping Charlie, and cinqfoil are a little tougher to tackle with thus tool, but it does work. The only real issue is with large dandelions (more than 5" in diameter), it can be hard to tell exactly where the center of the plant is, and so multiple attempts may be needed to grab the root. On weeds with a deep tap root, it also tends to break the root off at about the depth of the prongs. And with about 10% of the dandelions, it didnt break the root off and I had to bend down and pull it by hand. Still, definitely a good product that I'm sure I'll be using a lot this spring and summer.
- StephanieDoes the job and very easy to useWorks great, easy for my 80yold mother to use.
- Bill Donovan, AuthorOK. Does the job. It's OK. Solid. Does the job. But it's a lot simpler to just get weed gloves, put on knee pads, and get down and pull weeds by hand or with a trowel.
- SpencerMust havePerfect size, very easy to use especially when I have my 5-year-old helping. Easy to clean as far as knocking the mud off with the plunger pedal and can be rinsed off without causing rust. Very effective at removing weeds out of yards and garden beds. Way cheaper than most local hardware stores are going to have, for the same quality
- Ellyn G. AtkinsonFavorite yard tool to date!Only had for a month or so, but I absolutely love this thing! It makes getting up dandelions a breeze, as well as other weeds with lesser roots. It seems pretty sturdy, works as advertised and is a whole lot easier than manually bending over and prying up weeds. No assembly required, just stab and swirl, and the weeds pop out of the prongs with a push of a button, which is definitely a back and TIME saver. I must add that I live in a mountainous area with super hard soil, so I usually do this within a day or so of rain. I don't review many items these days, but this is easily one of my favorite yard tools.
- jonathan veronicaGood weed removal but not greatMan it was almost perfect love that it has the thing to push off the weeds instead of reaching down to take it off. Size is good don’t have to bent down and hurt my back. Function is ok and that’s why I do not give it 5 starts what I do not like about the weed puller is they all though the 3 prongs feel very sturdy and go through no problem, the issue I have is that I wish it had little teeth or something in the inside to grab the weeds. A lot of the times I push down and twist and while I’m pulling up the weed just falls down or doesn’t come up with the weed puller I feel the spikes are to smooth and has nothing to help pull it out. You have to grab it perfectly to have the weed come out that it my only downfall. Money is worth it and easy to use hopefully they come out with a updated one with something to help pull out the weeds
