- StarvinMarvinExcellent feeders at a bargain priceVery reasonably priced. Good size, holds a week's worth of food; easy to disassemble and reassemble; easy to clean all surfaces inside and out. The "anti-ant moat" is a nice touch. The tank itself is fluted, which gives it a much straighter and stronger structure than the smooth plastic feeders that were replaced by these.
- Rose HughesHummingbirds love feedersWe used these plastic Hummingbird Feeders last year and they are so durable that we will be using again this year.. They are so easy to take apart and clean and clean feeders are a must for hummingbirds. I can’t say that they are ant proof but I have found that rubbing a little Vaseline on the hanger will help keep ants out of feeder. I would definitely buy these again. Hummingbirds are fascinating to watch around feeders. I’ve noticed that one little bird will usually guard a feeder and try to keep other birds away. Love spending time outside!
- Amazon CustomerGreat buy and quality.Containers are smaller than other brands, which I like because the nectar is eaten more quickly and I can clean and refill them before the nectar goes bad. It attracted my hummingbirds within a short time after not having a feeder up since last fall. Great vibrant colors & love the ant moat!
- CarcassmanNice but smallThey are on the small side. Plus, so far, the hummers have not used them. Since the previous feeder they replaced was heavily used I don't know yet if weather/time of season is the cause or they just don't like them.
- Just MeNot Bee-Safe, and mods to MAKE them "bee" bee-safe, described hereI’m giving this a “5” despite the lack of bee protection, which was honestly reported with the product. It is a VERY affordable and good product! It honestly did NOT report itself as being bee-safe (honesty is good). If it is about half-full or more, then the pressure of the contents will make the juice available to bees, and the bees do NOT crawl in very far and die (on a MORE-full feeder). If the level of contents drops below about half, or worse yet, close to empty, then the bees will crawl through the too-large holes, through the flexible (soft) yellow flower-petals-holes, get stuck in there, and die. If there are many bees where you live, then you will get many dead bees in there, if the fluid level drop very low.
So keep your fluids topped off is one fix. The other fix, I will now describe in detail.
Get yourself a hot-glue-gun and glue sticks (very handy for bird feeder repairs and MANY other things). Also some epoxy putty. All these things can be bought here at Amazon. Now this will not look totally “pretty” to the human eye, but bees and hummingbirds do not care. When I have lost plastic flowers on feeders to squirrels and to raccoons, I have often just filled the holes (and surrounding areas) with generous amounts of hot glue melt, drilled small holes in the cured (cooled) glue, and left it at that, without a flower. I have seen birds drinking from these holes… They don’t care if there’s no flower, or it looks ugly.
IMPORTANT TECHNIQUE HINT: Here or in any other case where you use hot-melt glue, keep many ice cubes on hand. Use the ice to prevent “running” of the glue, and “boss around” the cooling glue, make it go where you want, and speed-curing (cooling) it. The resulting water won’t prevent you from applying more molten glue, either.
The red hard plastic bonds to the hot-melt glue, and the yellow flowers will NOT bond! So apply hot-melt glue all around the flowers on the outside, “capturing”, say, at least two of the flower-petals, so that the flowers will NOT spin around on later drilling steps. Apply some glue to the inside as well, to firm up the bases of the flowers. Cool all of this down. Try not to “glue up” the holes in the flowers, if possible. If you DO get glue in there, cool it down, then drill it out.
For the final steps, apply epoxy putty to the center of the flowers, pressing it into both ends of the holes in the flowers. Press the putty down into a dish-shape on the outside of the flower, so that the epoxy that you need to drill though, will not be deep, and the birds’ beaks won’t have to go too deep, there in the centers of the flowers. Let the epoxy putty cure for ? 3 hours or more, or carefully speed-cure it with a heat gun, being careful not to do it too quickly, or plastics will melt.
Drill SMALL holes in the cured putty, in the centers of the flowers (maybe a tad less than 1/8th of an inch… I just eyeballed it, I am not sure of the exact diameter). Clearly less than the diameter of a bee. And yes, humming birds have small beaks, and they have tongues too, so they will get in there. Now you have FIRM-edged holes (not nasty gooey-messy drilled hot-melt plastics) of a small diameter to protect bees. Done deal! - GeriVery Nice!Good price and the hummingbirds love it!
Durable and it’s in it’s second year! - KPVasqThese are good little feedersThese are decent little feeders! They clean up quick, assemble well, and the well part can go in the dishwasher (top rack no dry heat). I also like that they aren’t too heavy or too light. Color is bright and they don’t seem to be leaking in any way
- Kindle CustomerLook like glass...Very good quality. Easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. No leaking. Hold enough sugar water for a week of feeding. Look really nice and the hummingbirds like them. We enjoy watching the birds use them.
