  • Fans of Shatner and Tyson rejoice!
A fun and informative long conversation with two modern day icons. At 94 Shatner is as sharp and quick-witted as ever and Tyson is a fountain of scientific knowledge. They were clearly having a blast during this conversation. Although they spoke mainly of scientific matters each man also shared a few very personal stories. The whole discussion was quite engaging. The CD is five hours long but it went by really quickly.

This bromance forms an intriguing basis for heady discussions on physics and our ability to know basic facts about the universe. Shatner, ever the Socratic skeptic, challenges Tyson on how much we actually know about the universe. Socrates claimed to be wiser than everyone else, because he knew that he knew nothing. Tyson tries to answer in the affirmative but stumbles, at times, when pressed on enigmatic topics like dark matter (one of the most profound mysteries in physics). However, beyond this fun, the two become vulnerable as they discuss their early experiences. This book gets some extra stars (not visible to the human eye) for letting the reader in.
