5.0 out of 5 stars SUPER FAST!!! AWESOME UPGRADE!!! JUST BUY IT!!!

Crucial T500 did not disappoint and has done very well for me. Upgrading my son's gaming rig was super easy and he has been enjoying the boost in speed over his older WD SN570. This is a great value to performance buy and you will not be disappointed in your gaming experience. The 2TBs of storage make playing larger size games super easy, Baldur's Gate 3 and Destiny 2 play incredibly smooth. Highly recommend to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice little speed demon

I had to replace my boot SSD for a new OS install and chose this on recommendation of the Crucial configurator. I've using it now for more than 45 days. The results are completely satisfactory, if not outstanding. I now see sustained transfer rates exceeding 200Mb/sec during backups to USB3 external SSD. Boot times are very quick. All interactions are very quick now. No heat issues have been observed. Installation was straightforward and easy. I am totally satisfied with this product and recommend it to anyone if the Crucial configurator matches it to your system.

I was a little on the fence about getting this SSD for my PS5. however, I am glad I did, this is BY FAR the best accessory I've ever purchased for my PS5. A definite breath of fresh air if you have a lot of games, especially these days when nearly every game takes up a large chunk of storage. I got this when it was on sale, so I can say confidently that it was worth it. The performance and download speed are perfect and I have not had any problems at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Noticeably Faster than a SATA SSD
Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2024
I built my computer about 4 or 5 years ago, and while my motherboard had 2 NVMe slots, I didn't use them, since those drives were too expensive at the time. Instead I used a SATA SSD, which was plenty fast.

I was going to reformat my computer to get a fresh install (and try out Atlas OS for Win10), so I decided while I was at it, I should switch to a NVMe drive, now that they weren't so expensive.

NVMe's are really easy to install, as you just have 1 screw to do. The Win10 install saw the disk just fine, I selected it, it formatted it, and worked great first try (no weird disk formatting issues or anything).

The computer boots a lot faster, but some of that could be due to Atlas OS.
*BUT* When I install a game on Steam/Epic/GOG, that's where the speed is really noticeable. The download is the same (as a SATA SSD was faster than anything my download speeds could imagine), but after you have the files the game always needs to install/patch/verify, and that's where the NVMe speed becomes apparent. I love how quickly it burns through those steps now!

This has been my primary drive for about a month now, and I'm completely happy with it.

I have purchased 2 T500s, one in 1tb for my brother's pc and a 2tb one for myself, they have served both of us well in gaming endeavors. Games load up fast, files compress and decompress at a more than reasonable speed and as of now ive had no issues with corrupted files. Overall the T500 is a speedy gen 4 SSD at a reasonable price and is a great alternative to other more expensive gen 5 SSDs which at the moment are still prohibitively expensive.

Had this for a few months now and it’s been blessing. Pulls up my games and loads in super quick compared to my old ssd. For the low price and it competing with the big dogs it’s a no brainer.

4.0 out of 5 stars T500 - Great for most people

Got this at 2tb for $101, and, judging by how the prices have shifted around since then, that might be the cheapest anybody will be able to find a comparable NVME drive for quite a while. For my personal home server and gaming applications this has been a flawless secondary drive.

Now on paper this is a top performing drive and in the majority of benchmarks (and my usage) it does perform exactly as promised, but there are slight issues with random and sustained writes that have been reported on by enthusiast sites like storagereview. Do your research on how relevant that may be to your use case before using this as a boot drive for a workstation or putting it in an expensive ZFS array. But as a drive where I keep media files like books and some program/game installations, I haven't had a single problem or noticeably bad spike in latency in a month of use.

Pros:
-Good price and warranty
-Very fast secondary drive for games and virtual machine storage (with DRAM which is rare in 7k+ MB/s read drives)
-Power efficient
-Issues mentioned may be fixed by driver updates (and are next to irrelevant to what I use it for)

Cons:
-... Issues may not be fixed by driver updates and there just might be a reason Crucial discounted this first wave of these so quickly that isn't it being the holiday season

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast M.2 SSD Upgrade On HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G10 Laptop
Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2024
I swapped out the stock 512GB M.2 SSD on my HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G10 Laptop (Model#: 822P5UT#ABA) with this Crucial T500 M.2 SSD and it runs considerably faster now. Booting seems quicker too. The ample storage space is quite nice????

Install was stupid easy and only took a few minutes. You'll need a precision screwdriver set if you're upgrading your laptop.

I used a SABRENT USB-C M.2 SSD Enclosure to externally connect this SSD to my laptop in order to clone my old SSD to it (before installing/swapping SSDs). The Acronis drive cloning software (available for free on Crucial's website) is quick and easy to use. You don't need to format the new drive beforehand, the cloning software handles everything.

I highly recommend upgrading to one of these Crucial T500 SSDs, it's absolutely worth the money.

Side note: If you're upgrading your HP ProBook, there's also a secondary SSD slot next to the battery. The HP specs/datasheet are vague about what size M.2 is compatible for this secondary slot, but some online reviews suggest a shorter form-factor M.2 2230 (the ProBook's primary SSD is a M.2 2280, which is physically longer). This M.2 2230 suggestion appears to be wrong, as I installed one and it isn't long enough to reach the screw hole post (which secures the SSD in place). It still works though and the SSD sits firmly in place, even despite not being screwed down. I haven't had issues with it and I handle my laptop somewhat roughly. Also, if you do decide to install a second SSD, you'll need a screw for the screw post (it doesn't come with one).
