Before you buy understand:
- it doesn't melt, so you cannot fry or sear with it.
- it's more like a spread.
- it doesn't taste 100% like fresh butter but does have a buttery taste, which is acceptable as a backup to fresh butter.
I opened one can of powdered butter to test it out. I first reconstituted and tried some. It was better than I had expected. I added some to corn and it was good. I then added the butter powder and some milk powder to potato flakes. It was actually quite delightful. If I am ever in a situation where there is no butter, milk, or potatoes then I will be happily feasting on mashed potatoes.
If you have fresh butter then of course use that over the powdered butter. If fresh butter is unavailable then this powdered butter will do fine.
5/5 stars for taste, texture, shelf life, and price (while on sale of course). It may not melt but there are so many other comments stating that it doesn't.
