Thanks to the company for making this 1 and the pico de Gallo without yeast. I would not have bought them . I love this 1. The ingredients are amazing. Also I appreciate that there is no soy. Just pronouncecible ingredients. Buy Now because this the closest healthiest alternative meat. Taste and has the texture of meat especially if you cook it longer than what is recommended. Chipotle should carry this

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good tacos

I got a free sample of this at Fresh Market and it made really good tacos. So I bought these which are the same but in bigger size, split each pack into 5 small bags, and make taco's any day I want. 2 minute for lunch to make tacos. It is not same as beef but still damn good. One of best finds of 2022. Also oddly these classify as lightly-processed not highly-processed food and supposed to be on the healthier side.

I had no idea what to expect when making this. I've tried some other similar products (at least fake meat) and I guess they've all been tolerable with some much better than others. What would this be like?

When you order this you get six bags of "stuff". It looks a bit like dried out ground beef. Mix it with 2 cups of water for a few minutes and then pour that mix in a preheated skillet with some oil in it. Cook it for 15-20 minutes until the water has cooked off and you are done. It take about the same amount of time to cook as ground beef. I'd say this make the equivalent of 1.5. - 2 pounds of cooked ground beef once the fat is cooked of the beef.

When it is done it looks like seasoned ground beef and smells a bit like the spice but not too much like ground beef. Eaten just plain it won't fool anyone. Nobody would think this is ground beef when it is not mixed with anything. I added some more spice and mixed in some tomatoes, salsa and sour cream. With those other flavors and textures you might be able to fool someone into thinking this was actually seasoned ground beef. It kind of depends on how much seasoning you mix in.

When I made this, the texture of it was a bit more chewy than ground beef. The texture you end up with probably depends on how much you cook it. I suspect the texture might firm up a bit if it was cooked a little longer. I cooked it long enough to cook off all the water in the pan but not long enough to brown it at all.

In the end, I don't think anyone would mistake this for seasoned beef if they just eat what comes out of the pan cooked. If you perfected the cooking part to get a better texture than I got and you put this on a taco bar and called this beef, I think you would fool some people into thinking they were eating beef in their taco or burrito. If this was served in a restaurant or from a food truck and called a vegetarian taco, I think a lot of people would be surprised at how good it was.

In addition to using this at home for making tacos, it would make a good item to use for camping or even backpacking since it is so light and just needs water and a bit of oil to cook it. Considering you are getting about 20 ounces of pea protein here for about $35.00 you are paying about $28 per pound for processed pea protein. That seems fairly steep. If you estimate that each one of these pouches replaces about 1.5 pounds of ground beef, then you are paying about $3.90 per cooked pound of this stuff to replace each pound of ground beef. That is about on par with 85% ground beef around here.

It's an interesting product and was a lot better than I thought it would be. If this would be considered "KETO" the seller should put that in their product listing and on the packaging. Most "KETO" stuff doesn't taste right but this would fit in well with a "KETO" diet and taste much better than 95% of "KETO" products.

It's definitely worth a try if you are looking to eat less red meat and don't mind the price of this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't tell it's not meat!
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2022
I am probably the most reluctant vegetarian you'll ever find. Covid left me with some GI tract damage and now I have trouble with meat being fresh enough to eat safely unless it's farm to table on the same day. Anything else smells off and I get sick from it now.

I've tried quite a few plant based meats and most of them are ok in small doses but I'm also 53 and I avoid wheat because it causes hormone fluctuation for me. Wheat is in SO many vegan/vegetarian foods!

This Plant Boss "meat" is the holy grail of plant based meats as far as I'm concerned.

I cooked it according to the package directions and added some sauteed onion and a touch of salt and I can't tell it's not real meat! I'm going to enjoy the soft tacos I'm making out of it for dinner like I haven't enjoyed much since I started eating this way!

I've also ordered the plain kind and when it gets here I plan to cook it up and add an egg and make burger patties out of it so I can have cheeseburgers again.

I love how clean the ingredients are too. I can have this as often as I want because it won't have any negative effects on my body.

I am 100% impressed. Thank you to Plant Boss for making such a great product!
