5.0 out of 5 stars Sews like a dream, great colors

I was having trouble with my machine thread breaking on my Brother machine.
After trying every adjustment possible, new needle, etc etc, someone online suggested
changing thread brands, and Aurifil was their suggestion.

So, I tried one spool. This stuff is really overpriced, in my opinion, because even though the quality is great, it is still just thread. However, I am hooked. I had to have 100% cotton for my projects, and this was my third brand of thread. It sews like a dream!
I had no troubles with tension, no troubles with needles, no thread breakage, etc. It does a great job.

So, I highly recommend Aurifil cotton thread (50 wt). Just know that you need to be wealthy to have a large collection!
I can no longer work outside the home, so I pick up spools as I can afford to (and I have to buy them online, as no stores in our area carry this brand), and hope to eventually have nearly all my cotton thread be Aurifil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will NEVER go back to polyester thread!!!
Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2018
I have been an avid polyester thread user since starting quilting and sewing projects. It was cheap and available at my local craft stores. Boy, did I not realise what I was missing out on. I have a juki 2000 and a singer patchwork. So far I've only tried the aurifil 50 wt in my juki and I NOW UNDERSTAND what people meant by "My machine likes this thread" I get it!!! My juki doesn't sound like it's working as hard, and is much more quiet. The stitches are beautiful! The thread feels strong but half as thin as polyester so I imagine a 1/4 inch seam will be more accurate.. the bobbin will have alot more thread on it too so I won't have to change bobbins as often!! Will I use polyester again??? Heck no!!! I'm giving all of it away.. I know after only a couple minutes of sewing with aurifil, I will be a devotee!!!

Now, the only problem was my thread came in 2 pieces sticking out so I had to wrap and tuck one piece under cutting in the middle to get an end of thread. For this damage alone I feel the price should be lowered, because I don't know when that thread will show back up to tangle whatever I'm sewing...

Great thread for quilting - either piecing or quilting the layers. It produces very little lint. Can't ask for much more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Too many loose ends
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2024
This thread was recommended to me for quilting so I decided to pay a bit extra to try it out. I've been sewing for over 50 years and I have never had a spool of thread with more than two ends. I could not figure out which thread to pull and, when I picked one, it would get tangled up with the thread on the spool. After fighting with it and cutting lengths for hand stitching (this spool never would have worked on a machine!), the thread I was pulling finally ended leaving me with a normal spool of thread. Overall, I like working with the thread for hand quilting but I have not tried it with my sewing machine. This may have been a defective spool but, with a $12 cost, I expected better.
