I was a little nervous to try these after reading the reviews, but I love them. They’re definitely not your typical sweet cookie, so if that’s what you like I’d skip these. They have more of a dark chocolate flavor with a hint of sweetness. The ingredients are good except for the palm shortening. I didn’t check the ingredients before I purchased because this brand is usually pretty good about using clean ingredients. I wish they would change that one thing. They are expensive, but almost everything is these days.

Best tasting gluten-free cookies, ever!

After many disappointing experiences buying gluten free foods, I took a chance on ordering cookies from Simple Mills. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! These cookies are delicious!

These remind me of Oreo cookies, only better. The chocolate cookie is a rich dark chocolate with a pleasing crunch. The cream filling is tasty and provides a lovely balance to the cookie.

I don’t write that many reviews but I ran across a few extremely negative reviews of these cookies and I thought I needed to help clear up their apparent confusion:

These cookies are made with cashews but they don’t taste like cashews. Those of us who are dairy free are aware that cashews (& other ingredients) are often used to provide a creamy texture. They are a healthier replacement for dairy than hydrogenated oils, for example. While the overall taste and texture is pleasing, don’t expect it to taste like nuts.

This brand uses a mixture of gluten free flours in their cookies like watermelon seeds and nuts. Just because nuts or seeds are used, don’t assume the cookies will necessarily taste like nuts. Want to taste a cashew, eat an cashew. Want delicious gluten-free cookies? Try these ones from Simple Mills.

Are these cookies expensive? Compared to mainstream cookies with gluten, dairy, soy, and other allergens I need to avoid, yes they are. The prices on Amazon seem to vary a lot and the package size is much smaller than non-gluten free cookies. The ingredients they use are also more expensive than mainstream brands. That’s to be expected. I do closely watch the pricing of the cookies and don’t buy them if the price is temporarily too high. However, gluten-free cookies always cost more than regular cookies.

In summary, these are great cookies if you need to avoid gluten, dairy, and soy but don’t want to sacrifice flavor. I’ve also enjoyed their chocolate chip, chocolate thins, and pecan cookies but these are still my favorite. Yum!

I don't like Oreos, they're too sweet and have little flavor. This on the other hand is less sweet and I love the flavor. A little expensive, but it is what it is. I'm not sure about the palm oil, but I guess it's better then Canola.

Disappointing taste, won’t ever buy again!

Bought both the nut butter cookies and the chocolate cashew butter ones.

I love peanut butter sandwich cookies, but I break out when I eat wheat. I was craving some and did a search for gluten free peanut butter sandwich cookies and found these. For some reason, they use cashew butter in addition to peanut butter, which unfortunately dilutes the peanut butter flavor, which makes them a bit bland and the cashew adds a weird flavor. So my craving was definitely not satisfied.

The chocolate cashew butter ones are really bad. The flavor is not what I expected at all. The nut butter doesn’t taste good at all.

I love this company, but these cookies are a huge miss. Dear Simple Mills, Please get rid of the cashew butter and just use peanut butter. I love cashews, but they are too bland for this type of cookie. I think even gluten eaters would like them if they had a stronger peanut butter taste. I believe your sales would go up. Also ditch the nut butter idea for the chocolate ones. Find a way to make a cream filling like Oreos instead. Cashews have a place in cooking and baking for sure, but this is not it!

I wish I'd never tried these

Because they are so ADDICTING!!! I have been gluten-free since long before it was in style, and out of style, and back in ... Most GF snacks and treats are pretty meh, but not these. They're especially delicious in milk (or milk replacement for me). I have zero willpower against these.
I will add that I am a bit extra deprived because I am also intolerant to oats, rice, etc so that leaves me very few options of out-of-the-box GF snacks, so there may be this slight bias to not having all the options to try. This brand has many good products, that I have been using for years. But OMG, where were these hiding? Show me a picture of the box and I turn into one of Pavlov's dogs who just heard a bell. You know that saying, something like 'nothing tastes as good as thin feels'? Well, that was before these!

Flavor Fail For My Taste

I am a big fan of Simple Mills and was excited to try to Cocoa Cashew Creme Filled Cookie for the first time. The cookie was dark in color but lacked chocolate flavor, the filling was creamy but wasn't especially flavorful. There was nothing wrong with the cookie it just fell short of my expectations based on my overall experience with Simple Mills typically flavorful products.

If you are a sugar addict, pass on this product. After ten years of Gf, SF, DF and sugar free…… they taste great to me. On a fixed income, too expensive for 16 cookies for my budget. Nice birthday treat. Shipped in an envelope so box was greatly damaged. Cookies were fine because they are packed in plastic tray.
