5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOVE LOVE this for our 3 1/2 year old!

Yet another wonderful game from Thup Games! All the "Monkey" games are fun and educational. I love how it's so fun for them to play, but also teaching them important skills. Some of this one is still too hard for our son, who's 3 1/2 and autistic, but the BEST PART of this is you can use the parent controls to make it simpler or more difficult, and it ALSO will get harder as your child does better.

A new feature of this one this one that I like is individual settings for up to 2 children. So if our older kids have it and do well, they won't mess up the difficutly for our youngest!

This app rotates different games/activities so they never get "bored" of the same one.

The aquarium fills up fairly quick if they play alot, but you can go in under parental controls and reset it so they can start over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good secondary program

We had all of the Monkey programs. They were fantastic. I now have another at this age that is on the spectrum that really enjoys the energy of the program. The rhyming is still hard for her to understand but she is doing well with the rest of the program. Her terrarium is full of frogs.

4.0 out of 5 stars mostly great

The games are short, engaging, and fun for my kids. It holds their attention well. One child loves collecting the gems. The other loves connecting the rhyming words and completing the bridges.

They love getting to pick things for their terrarium and enjoy watching the bugs and butterflies fly and the frogs croak. They also love they can make the frogs jump or stick to the wall.

There are two things I would change. The first would be letter formation. Most are fine, however there are a few weird ones taught. Ex. The capital M is taught with outside legs drawn first and then inside legs drawn. A bit awkward if you ask me. The other thing that should change is when the kids make words they start with simple cvc words supported by letter outline prompts. (Awesome) Once they "master" this they are expected to make words with blends and r controlled vowels without letter support. Too much of a jump.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Preschoolers
Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2014
This app is geared toward preschoolers but works for my grandchildren who are in first and second grades, (the second grader is autistic). They recently came to live with me and I noticed their reading skills were low. I was looking for apps that would be fun but also help with learning sounds. They both like monkeys so I ignored the preschool part and got it. They love this game. Some of it the second grader finds easy but he tolerates it to get to the harder games. The games teach letter recognition and printing skills with a trace the letter portion, The stone speller has stones that come down and you choose letters to form the word. It starts out with only the letters needed for the word and progresses to more than enough letters. The letters are shown in the correct place so early learners can match letters. This also goes away as they progress. Hints can also be turned off by the parents. When the letters are in place the word is read slowly with each sound clearly enunciated. Phonics bridge has one letter missing and the child needs to place it. Both boys love seeing the chinchillas high five. This word is also clearly enunciated. Word wall is like a seek and find puzzle. Early learners look for 2 words containing 3 letters and both words go in the same direction. As they progress a word is added and the words can be across or down. They also can be found with a letter in another word. In rhyming maze the children seek words that rhyme to get the chinchilla to the treasure. Children learn to recognize the common word inside the word from this game. The words are all clearly read and highlighted. Then my grandchildren's absolute favorite game on this app...Sight Birds. in sight birds words are written on gems that fly across the screen. The children are tasked with collecting the gems that have the word they are seeking. Each time they click the correct word it is read. There is no penalty for wrong words other than not collecting a gem. The boys are always excited to play this game. I wish there was a feature or an app that just let them play this one game. I might never get them away! The graphics are well done and very cute. At the end of all the games the children get to choose, from 3 items, a prize. This prize goes into their terrarium. I love seeing their creativity come alive with their reward. Both boys have different terrariums going with one liking more the plants and the other the butterflies and dragonflies. Both adore the frogs and are super excited when one is offered to them. We play this game in the morning before school, (each boy has time for 3 complete plays), after school as a treat when homework is done and again before their bedtime story. This was an awesome investment and well worth the small price asked. I would recommend this to preschoolers and children in early grades, especially those who are having trouble with phonetics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best App for kids, EVER!!!
Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2013
I bought this game with a bit of skeptism as I have bought SOOO many kids apps that have been too easy, boring, lack of content, and other dissapointments. I went ahead and bought this one after seeing the great reviews. I have to say the reviews were spot on. This is an awesome game. My 6 year old daughter loves it. I love how the game progresses and gets more difficult with the more things my daughter gets right. She loves the little monkey and all the game components. This is one game that anyone with kids between the ages of 3 and 7 should definitely purchase!!! It is well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monkey Word School Adventure
Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2013
This ap is a step up from Monkey Lunch box and is very entertaining. I made the purchase for my twin 5 year old grandaughters, who are in 4k. They were able on their own to use the ap with no assistance on the lower level. Not only does the Ap say one syllable sight words aloud, it allows the kids to practice their spelling by draggin the correct letters in place to spell the word. 3 simple activities in each little section with rewards of butterfiles and plants to go inside their acquarium. Cute and very entertaiing and best of all educational!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Monkey Word Game Was a Hit
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2013
I chose this game for my grandson who is just starting to see how letters combine to make words. It is great and lots of fun. I taught reading for many years and wish I had something this engaging to use with my students. I also liked that there was a variety of activities, not just one form of game. My grandson liked the rewards the little monkey gave him after he correctly played the game.
I did sit with him and helped him understand how to play the games, he is just four. I figure it to be perfect for preschool, kindergarten and first grade children.
