5.0 out of 5 stars Similar to IKEA Hildegun tea towel/flour sack towel, next best thing is Linen Lane
Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2024
I have had the cheap 79¢ IKEA Hildegun towels for a good decade, and I absolutely love them. They are the best thing for drying dishes lint free and they absorb water easily. They fit into lid grooves to absorb water, are wonderful to wipe down the faucet, dry veggies, are just a fantastic towel that I use daily for everything. They have a few minor holes from drying sharp knives with no hem fraying at all, and are still in good shape and I know will last me for many, many more years. However, I only have 10 and had always wished I had bought more. IKEA has been out of stock online and in stores for over a year and now it seems they have been discontinued! People have bought them all up and are reselling them on other sites for 3 times the original cost. So I went looking on Amazon for something similar. In the photo, the red striped towel is from IKEA, the blue striped towel is from Linen Lane. Zooming in on Linen Lane, you can see an alternating sort of woven white stripe pattern on the white part. The IKEA towel also has this same sort of alternating white stripe pattern, except a little bit wider. Both are 100% cotton and they will shrink. The Linen Lane shrunk some, as expected, but it’s still a good usable size. They have a nice hem on them and feel like a good quality for being an inexpensive towel. I personally do not like using thick towels to dry dishes because it’s hard to feel the dish in my hand, and I don’t like a too big towel either because I fumble around with the excess. I like these thin towels. I can fit them into all nooks and crannies to get water, into glasses easily too. So far the Linen Lane feels good in my hand and is performing well. It absorbs quite well too. Some other reviewers have mentioned about not liking how these towels get too wet. Actually, that’s exactly what you want. If the towel is wet then that means it’s absorbing all the water! It’s not unusual for me to have to use two or three towels if I’m drying a lot of dishes because of the towel being too wet at some point, but that’s because it absorbs the water exactly like it’s meant to do. And that’s ok to use extra towels because I have more in the drawer. These shine up all the flatware and pots and pans fantastically! So far they have washed up well and right now have a little tiny bit of stiffness to them. HOWEVER, if these are going to do like my IKEA towels, then the more I wash them, the softer they will get and they will even absorb better and better. So I believe they will get softer, but it will simply take some time to get there. Right now they are a very good addition to my beloved IKEA towels and I know I’ll be using the Linen Lane just as much and these are the closest I can get to my IKEA towels. Also, never ever use fabric softener or dryer sheets on these towels because it will coat them and make them not absorb anything at all????

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite kitchen towels!

First and foremost they’re aesthetically pleasing, which is a must if they’re going to hang around in the open (the kitchen is accented with blue hues). Secondly, awesome quality! They’re soft, yet durable and can withstand a ton of absorption. I tend to use these as my dish drying towels for handwashing and those stubborn top rack items that just never seem to be dried after a dishwasher cycle. The towels dry efficiently so you can use one for hand drying at the sink and not feel it’s too damp to continue to use it throughout the day in a busy household. I appreciate the little cotton sewn in tab on one of the inner corners since I use it for hanging on a hook. I follow the instructions on how to wash them too and they’re like brand new after serval cycles in the washer and dryer, which is a bit surprising since they’re not at all expensive, they feel luxurious (
I’ve been using cheap hand and dish towels from big box stores, never again). Lastly, I’ll definitely be coming back to this line of linens whenever I’m in need again. I hope these remain in production!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good deal for 12

These towels are better than average for the price. They are 100% cotton so they will shrink in the dryer. They are also thinner than average so I don't know how well they will wear. They are absorbent and work well so for the price for 12 if they wear out a little quicker than more expensive towels I dont mind. I am hard on my kitchen towels so they can get stained and tossed out after a couple months anyway so getting 12 works well for me. I would reccomend these towels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soft, lightweight, fast drying

Great kitchen towels. The fabric is a bit rough to the touch when you first open them, but very soft after one wash. I love these thin, lightweight towels. They are absorbent and dry super fast so you don’t end up with a musty damp towel. These could double as casual napkins, as well.

I like these kitchen towels a lot. Good quality and highly absorbent, they do not shrink or kink like some others.
The color is also very pretty. I am very pleased with them.

I purchased these for using when I make sourdough breads. They work great. They came quickly and packaged well. I have been using them a lot and I think they are worth the price.
