5.0 out of 5 stars Soo much better than the tiles
Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2024
I had used the tiles for 12 years and I loathed using the program because of that. They are so easy to lose and there was no easy way to store them. I stumbled upon this app and I no longer dread AAR/AAS time. I will say if your child is likely dyslexic, the physical tiles are probably better for that tactile stimulation. The program itself is fabulous-I have 3 very strong readers as a result so it’s very worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome addition to AAS & AAR

My kids love using this app instead of using the physical letter tiles. It works well, and you're able to spell more words at once. I love the feature allowing you to choose which level you're on to display only the tiles necessary. Great resource for use with All About Spelling and All About Reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Update: 5 star app all the way!!!!
Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2018
I am a huge fan of AAS and I was super excited when I heard that they were finally releasing an app for it. I always liked the idea of letter tiles but they just weren't practical in my household. With 2 toddlers who loved to run off with the tiles during lessons and older children who would get frustrated with having to reorganize them because the kids work on different levels so we would need to add tiles or take tiles away it became frustrating. Eventually they just stopped being used as much as they should have. Then came the app. This has been a game changer for us. The letter tiles are all organized and easily changed from one level to another with just a few clicks! The letter sounds are instantly available for quick reference and best of all it can go everywhere with us! The only reason why I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is a little difficult to use on the smaller Kindle screen. It has a bit of a learning curve which is why I waited so long to review it, I really wanted to get a feel for it. I have used it on a combination of 20 different lessons with multiple children and I am super happy with it. I do wish that it was easier to separate sylables but like I said it is the smaller Kindle screen and I am hopeful that it is an issue that will be addressed in future updates. When it I will be more than happy to change my 4 star to a 5 star review

    9/2018 Update
We started the new school year and I was pleasantly surprised to see that this app got an update. The update included larger letter tiles which fixed the in issue I had had with this app. The kids can now move letters around and separate words into syllables with no problem what so ever...this is a must have to go with the All About Spelling program, we don't even use our white board any more and I honestly couldn't be any happier. This app was well worth the money!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money

This is really difficult to use on a Kindle Fire. The letter tiles are very small. The touchscreen function doesn't work well so the letters didn't go where we wanted. The words looked wonky with large vertical and horizontal spaces between letters. It wasn't possible to move them once placed. After 5 minutes of frustration my daughter and I are done. It's unusable. I love All About Spelling and All About Reading but not this app.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for on-the-go school, needs fine-tuning still

I love the concept. I have 4 children using the All About Learning programs daily and this will give us more flexibility to do our lessons away from our huge magnet tile board. Things I love about it. We are about to go on an extended road trip and now I can bring our lessons along with us. Yay! I also love the "clear all tiles function" this saves me so much time from having to methodically put away each tile like I do on my board. I also love that the app works for all the AAReading and AASpelling levels. Now for the critiques. I find the app scaled a little too small to use easily with the Fire 7. Due to the small tile icon size, it is a challenge to select the intended tile on the first go and the splitting syllable function is very finicky...almost impossible to select 2 tiles simultaneously because the tiles are closer together than my fingers can physically get. I also find the "long hold" function (to select the tile for capitalization or hearing the phonome) to be too sensitive. I am constantly accidentally activating the long hold function when I am trying to move a tile into position. Lastly, I am disappointed that this app only loads onto one device. Each of my four children have a personal fire for their school use and it would be convenient if I could load the app I purchased on to all four fires. Over all, the convenience I get from this app makes it worth the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent addition to all about learning

We have been using All About Reading for four years now and All About Spelling for three years and we love the curriculum. The addition of this app has just made me love the program more. The tiles are wonderful, but taking our reading outside of the house has been difficult. With the app we can do our work anywhere, we don't lose tiles, I can make words, without worrying if I need more than two of the same letter, we don't lose tiles and the baby doesn't eat them.
It takes a few sessions to get the hang of everything, (seperating syllables took some time to get used to, and we sometimes accidentally clear the board when we really only wanted to fetched of one letter) but it gets easier and faster with use. And now that the updated version has larger tiles it's even easier.
My kids love it for reading and spelling. I'd recommend it to anyone who uses the curriculum, just like I recommend the materials to anyone searching for reading or spelling curriculum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Problem with app fixed swiftly
Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2023
Edit to add: when I notified all about reading of the issue they fixed it within a week. App now works amazing on my Kindle! My daughter loves it

The bottom row of tiles is cut off by the navigation bar. This will make it almost impossible for my child to use those tiles since she can't see what they are.
