About this item

【STM Stepping Moto】TTArtisan AF 56mm F1.8 CF lens adopts the "STM+leading screw" stepping motor, which is small in size and smooth in focusing.
【Eye Recognition Focus】 Accurate and agile eye tracking makes it easy to capture wonderful moments when taking photos, and helps to shoo smooth images when recording videos.
【Interface for Firmware Upgrade】The firmware upgrade of the lens can be carried out through the typer-c interface to improve the performance. Different from the common design of the interface on the lens, TTArtisan designs the interface on the back cap, which improves the aesthetics of the lens.
【Metal Material】 The lens barrel and mount are made of aviation aluminum, and the metal texture perfectly matches the retro vibe of Fuji cameras.
【F1.8 Large Aperture, Soft Bokeh】F1.8 aperture allows more light to enter the camera, which is beneficial for low-light photography. In addition, the large aperture brings objects in the foreground into focus and blurs the background.

Nowadays a good copy of Helio 44-2 is more expensive than this lens. I have 15+ those large aperture ~50mm vintage lenses adapted to my X-S10. I love the bokeh and character when take portraits and close up pictures of the nature. But sometimes I do need auto focus. This lens is just like that.

Some pros and cons:
- AF works fine on portrait distance, not good when near to the closest distance (50cm), need to manually focus when close to the subject
- Color is much more saturated than most vintage lenses
- Same size as a Helio with the adapter, but lighter
- Very good build quality, and clean design. Looks very balanced and nice on the X-S10 body. Also not too big when put on x-e4

Really enjoyed it so far.

This is a compact, light portrait lens that will easily compete with other 3rd party portrait lenses. The lens comes with a front and rear lens caps (rear one being USB dock) and a metal hood.

While the lens hood is cute, it’s not very practical as you can’t use it with the lens cap. Rear lens cap being the dock is brilliant and it’s good that TTArtisan doesn’t make you purchase a separate dock to update their lenses. It doesn’t have aperture ring but that’s not a negative for me.

Due to this lens being the value option, I didn’t have high expectations but compared to my Viltrox 56mm, I was pleasantly surprised. On a given aperture, this lens is just as sharp as the Viltrox while focusing almost as fast. When testing the lens on X-T3, I noticed that this had much lower lens distortion than the Viltrox while having bit more contrast. It does have slower motor than the Viltrox and the bokeh seems to be better on the Viltrox but the contrast and sharpness of the lens surprised me.

Viltrox does have the aperture ring but if I were to pick one of the two, I’d probably go with the TTArtisan as it offers better bang for the buck. I was looking for a backup to the Viltrox but for casual shoots, this will be my go to lens. Highly recommended!

This thing is an absolute banger of a lens.
I’m more than shocked by the image quality and versatility.
I went on a walk with a friend to test it out and it’s amazing. It’s incredibly sharp and the colors are pleasing. My only quip is that weirdly you can manual focus closer than the lens can auto focus.
