5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Ultra-Zoom (24-200) Z Lens from Nikon
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2022
When I first bought this lens back in November, I thought that I would use it and return it if it didn't suit my needs (that time I had until January 31, 2022 to return). I brought the lens and my Z6 for a trip to Barcelona in November. I also brought my 14-30 F/4 Z lens for a wider angle. In the 10 days that I was there the lens that was on my camera 99% of the time was the 24-200mm. The lens was so versatile that I didn't bother switching and it was a bliss to be able to zoom from 24 mm to 200 mm in mere fraction of a second! I was totally impressed with the lightness and quality of the build of this lens. When I returned home and examined all the 800 shots I made I was also impressed with the sharpness of the image both center and close to the borders. The color rendition was fantastic. I would highly recommend this lens for travels as well as for hiking or if you want to carry only one lens.

5.0 out of 5 stars far better than the old 28 to 300mm f mount!
Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2024
i always tried to avoid using sweeper lenses cause of not being as sharp or fast. after coming from a d850 with a 24 to 70 and 28 to 300mm lenses this lenses far exceeds my expectations for a sweeper lens! its sharper and much faster as focusing with outstanding color and contrast reproduction! i usually only use a sweeper lens for situations i cant carry a bag of lenses and or tripod with me. all though it only goes to 200 instead of 300 to me its not a big loss. and to be fair the 28 to 300mm really only went to 250mm not 300mm. this lens still wont replace my 24 to 70 but now i wont feel like i compromising quality for convenience anymore using this lens. i will do some comparison shots later on. i highly recommend this lens!

5.0 out of 5 stars Was hoping this lens wasn't a compromise relegating my Z camera to a point and shoot

I am relatively new to photography having done a significant amount of research into the technology to support my hobby. Spent months considering full-frame, APS-C, Brand, SLR/Mirrorless etc. and ultimately ended up with the Nikon Z camera. I'm an enthusiast and pretty much now always use the camera on Manual to take control over the picture and have spent a lot of time understanding all of the key metrics involved in photography - big shout-out to Jared Polin.

I know that primes and f2.8 lenses are considered professional and do have the 85mm and 35mm Z lenses for the camera in addition to the great kit lens 24-70 f4. I also had the F mount 70-200 f4 but with the adapter found it cumbersome and quite noisy when trying to focus.

This lens isn't designated as 'S' line and is there not considered anywhere close to the quality of the 70-200 f2.8 or 24-70 f2.8 but is also considerably cheaper at only 20% of the cost of the other two combined. I watched many reviews on YouTube and online and decided to take the plunge and buy the lens.

After using the lens now for a month or so I have to say I'm very impressed. Does it have the same level of quality and control as the larger f2.8's? No, and it's much slower. But the reason I bought the Z system is the VR, the stop reduction afforded by the VR and the quality of the sensor so the real-world difference to me is great. I'm no pixel peeper and don't have the considerably more expensive f2.8's to compare to - all that is done online by multiple reviewers but I have to admit I've not taken this lens off the camera since buying it.

Long story short - this is a keeper and despite the lack of the 'S' designation and the fact it's quite slow as soon as you get beyond 30mm, the pictures are excellent. I've not had any major issues with light and so this lens is an absolute great all-rounder. Even if Nikon would build my wish-list lens of a z70-200 f4, coupled with my included z24-70 I'd probably still leave this lens on most of the time. Just so easy to grab and go with a great size and practicality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, flexible, high-quality superzoom
Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2022
This is great as a lightweight, flexible travel lens.

Of course it can't compete in pure optical quality or depth of field control with the 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 whose focal length range it covers. But it costs 81% less than buying that combination, weighs 74% less, and you don't have to swap lenses to cover an 8x zoom range. And the optical quality turns out to be surprisingly good - probably the best 24-200 super zoom I've seen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good lens from NIKON

It is an excellent and versatile lens. I could not justify the 24-70 F2.8 and the F4 28-120 would have been another option but with the 200 mm at the long end it gives me the ability to use one lens for 90% of my shooting.

It's sharp and has a great range for general daylight work or fun. I just think Nikon is abusing those Z lens prices...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for traveling
Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2023
The Nikon 24-200 lens I recently acquired is nothing short of exceptional! Its versatile range, ideal for travel photography, has opened up a world of creative possibilities. The lightweight design is a boon for on-the-go photographers like me, ensuring I can capture stunning shots without feeling weighed down by heavy equipment. While it's true that this lens falls on the expensive side, the investment is undoubtedly worth it for the unparalleled image quality it delivers. The sharpness, clarity, and color rendition are truly outstanding, making every photo a masterpiece. If you're willing to stretch your budget a bit, this Nikon lens is a must-have for any serious photographer who wants to travel on a single or dual lens system. It's a five-star gem that elevates my photography to new heights!

5.0 out of 5 stars It finally arrived!!!! I was starting to think that this lens was an Urban Legend!
Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2020
I ordered in February as soon as I heard that preorders were being taken. Then COVID. Amazon indicated several times since then an estimated delivery date that always came and went, leaving me disappointed. Last week I saw another ETA and only sorta believed it. Today the lens finally arrived.

I have put it on a Z50, z6 and Z7 already. This lens was worth the wait. Its small, sharp, and exactly what I wanted to cover a wide range when I don't want to have to change lenses. Yes, its a bit slow, but I knew that before ordering. Nikon's mirrorless cameras tolerate high ISO, so the slow aperture wont be much of an issue. The VR when I put on the Z50 seems rock-solid and locks images in and eliminates shake even through the view finder.

I rate it 9/10 - it would be a 10 if it stayed at f/4 all the way out to 200mm
