I bought this for my son as part of his birthday gift basket as he’s an avid hiker and adventurer. I thumbed through the book and was really impressed with the information that I read and I know that it will be of great use to my son.

This book is terrific. I was reading it and my dad stole it! We keep showing each other interesting things. It is a great, easy ready and a good idea for a book.

Completely blown away buy this book. First, the cover is beautiful! Qhen it came in i was a tiny bit disappointed because it was not as beautiful inside as it was on the cover and it was much thicker than i had expected. I had intended to have my children read it during family reading hr but after seeing the thickness i felt like it may discourage young readers. So my husband began reading it and after reading only a chapter he made us all sit down to listen. Its well written and the words and good info makes up for the lack of color on the pages. The kids have each picked it up at different points and flipped through to a chapter about something they are wondering about. My son read about trees one day and my daughter read about lighting strikes on a day we where seeing lots of lighting. They use it kinda like a reference when they come across something in nature they dont know or understand. My husband and i are both reading it in order and have read out loud to the kids when we come to a section we find really interesting. This book makes you want to go outside and look for the signs you learn. I can no longer drive down the road without looking for the "wedge effect" on a tree line not to mention various other things that make even a short outing seem like a bit of a scavenger hunt. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves learning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full of interesting info…a bit scattered, though, sometimes.

The title is a bit weird…has a double meaning like forgetting when nature calls or you had caught leaky diarrhea somewhere..?

It’s true that wherever people tend to tread with their footsteps that bushels of clovers almost always develop — one of the more interesting statements. Strange how that happens.

Some of it seemed like it could have been written while playing “Zelda: Breath of the Wild.” … or is great in combination with playing the game…

Wasn’t bad. You will probably need a highlighter as it does tend to make one drift off a bit sometimes when reading. Index is important. Glad about the index here. Much needed for this book.

Happy reading!

3.0 out of 5 stars Maybe another coffee table book...

So far, I've not really learned much from this book and I've read a few chapters. I do love the author's writing style. It keeps me engaged and entertained, which is why I keep trying to read it. But 3 chapters in, I have not really learned much that isn't common sense. I did learn a couple of things about a mud puddle that I hadn't paid attention to before. The reason I gave 3 stars is because there's a lot of "fluff" in the book. It's still entertaining, but I bought the book to LEARN, not be entertained. I don't have time to read much, so what I have read so far hasn't taught me as much as I would have hoped. It seems to me to just be another coffee table book, which is not what I wanted. Maybe I'll learn much more, further into it.

I am still reading but so far it has reminded me of my childhood with grandparents. So many things I had forgotten. I’m going to start my projects soon.
