Amazing read. I needed this! Couldn’t put it down.

I sat down and read The 12-Hour Walk in a single sitting. The only other book I’ve read cover to cover is The Alchemist! This book had me amazed and empowered, pondering what I’ capable of. His adventure stories are so well written and shared, I felt like I was living the experiences alongside Colin. And I appreciated the insight and key takeaways that clearly applied to my life. I’m certain that when, not if, but when, I take the 12-Hour Walk that I’ll be that much closer to conquering my mind and accomplishing “my Everest”. Thanks for the inspiring read!

Just the book I need to kick into a higher gear!

I first discovered Colin O' Brady after watching his inspirational TED talk. He spoke about changing your mindset to achieve your goals, dreams and even the impossible. I then read his book, The Impossible First, which does a great job in telling his world record story of traveling across Antartica. While that feat is worthy of high praise, achieving something like that in my life can feel out of reach. Thus, I was delighted to read the 12 Hour Walk which is a much more approachable, but no less significant, approach to finding my own high peak, or goal, to conquer as a means to achieve greater personal growth. This book isn't self-help book per se, it is full of enthralling stories of Colin's other adventures along with other approachable anecdotes that he breaks down to form a mindset that prods, pushes and compels the reader to take that next, more challenging, step in a pursuit of excellence that we can achieve in our daily lives. Amazon fulfilled the book easily and I am ordering a few for students I mentor. I certainly recommend it!

Interesting and probably worth a walk!

I enjoyed the book overall. The personal stories were well written and interesting. At some point when the days are longer and it's not so frigid I plan to take a 12 hour walk. It's a good premise but I think for many taking a 12 hour walk is too intimidating.

At 69 I know my best years are in front of me. O’Brady’s book affirmed that belief with a simple plan to help me accomplish that. It will start with a 12 hour walk planned later this month to ‘train my mind’ to attain the best ‘possible mindset’ to attain my goals.

Both Inspiring and Ableist

I’ve read O’Brady’s earlier books and now this one. I love his sense of adventure, his perseverance and his ability to motivate others. I always come away from one of his books feeling more committed to my own goals.
However these goals will not include a 12 Hour Walk. I was shocked by O’Brady’s proclamation that anyone can do this. Has he never heard of disability? Does he not know that some people use wheelchairs because they are completely unable to walk and that an attitude change will not create an ability to walk in a person who simply can’t.
I hope he revised the next edition to offer alternatives for those of us who could benefit from a challenge but are too disabled to commit to a 12 Hour Walk.

O'Brady's "The Impossible First" was one of my favorite reads of 2020, so I was very much looking forward to "The 12 Hour Walk" . I was not disappointed. This book's conversational tone offers easy to read, tangible and practical suggestions about how to make incremental improvements in your life. The lessons are accessible for almost anyone and there's nothing you have to buy to put them into practice. Just walk out your front door and keep going! I appreciated learning more about O'Brady's past and the path that led him to his world record accomplishments. An added bonus was the insiders perspective on the tragedy that occurred during the disastrous K2 climb in the winter of 2021. I highly recommend this inspiring book for anyone who wants to evolve to a growth mindset and achieve their goals.
