5.0 out of 5 stars Works great but is THICK

Bought this for a new system build after my old desktop failed.
Decided to try it on my laptop too because why not.
My laptop, an older G7 7700 has notoriously bad cooling and thermal throttles really bad unless its underclocked (or just turn off turbo boost)
It would frequently lag out or crash games outright, even cause a system restart more oft than not.
No cooling pad could help this, as the fans and heatsinks in it are just awful.

This paste tho.. I applied it and it actually stays below throttling temps now. Granted only by a few degrees, but I wasn't expecting miracles.
Even without the cooling pad now tho, the laptop is actually usable with the turbo mode enabled and keeps cool enough to function during long gaming sessions on it!

The only tough part is spreading it properly, as this paste is more like a clay and def won't work with the press down methods normally used in the past. You will need to spread it using a spatula or finger to get it on nice and even.

That aside, it works bloody brilliantly. I'm actually impressed this did the trick as I wasn't expecting much, but figured I'd try it anyway and it really works super well over my old corsair TM30

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product with Exceptional Performance

I applied the MX-6 thermal paste to a friend's MSI gaming laptop, and it worked really nicely at transferring the heat from the CPU and GPU to the heatsinks to help the laptop stay cool. I also applied the MX-6 thermal paste to my personal laptop (Dell XPS 13 9310 2-in-1) and the thermal paste also worked out quite well.
It is important to know that MX-6 is a thermal paste and not a miracle worker. Its job is to transfer heat from the heat generating components to the cooling system. For the Dell laptop I mentioned earlier, it transferred heat efficiently and effectively. What wasn't effective enough was the cooling system on the laptop.

MX-6 is very easy to spread and apply, and smoothing the thermal paste out evenly is a snap with the assistance of a plastic card. The thermal paste is standard gray in color and should be enough to re-thermal paste several laptops and desktops.

Overall, excellent performance and easy application.

Note: I do not know how long the thermal paste will last, if it will cake up or do any other fun stuff. What I do know is that it works quite well at the moment, after 1 month of application.

I love the thermals that my PC is showing. Great quality, thickness is there, no smell, condition is superb, adhesion is also there but not too much, size is 4g and it is enough to last you until your next change in thermal paste.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works but not really better...
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2024
It works but not really any better than the stock paste that comes with Noctua and Thermalright coolers.

I just did a series of tests using these items: Date: 05/07/2024

    ARCTIC MX-6 $6.55
TF7 Thermal Compound Paste - included
Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Computer Paste - included
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE Cooler $33.90
Noctua NH-D9L, Premium CPU Cooler $54.95

    Configs and results:
    1. Noctua NH-D9L with Noctua NT-H1: Started here. I was getting about 35C to 38C Idle on the CPU with the fan at 950ish rpm. When I did the multi core CPU test on Cinebench 2024 the temp would jump up to the 100C throttle temp almost immediately and would bounce right at that for the duration of the 10 minute test. The fan ramped up to 2000rpm for the duration.
    2. Noctua NH-D9L with ARCTIC MX-6: The Artic paste dropped my idle temp down a bit to 34C to 36C. All other tests had the same results as the 1st test.
    3. Thermalright PA with TF7: Got a really nice drop here down to 28C to 30C idle with the fans spinning at 720 rpm. When running Cinebench it did eventually get to the 100C throttle, but it was about 5 minutes into the 10 minute test before it did. The temp was generally bouncing around 90C throughout the test. The 2 fans got up to 1550 ish rpm and were much quieter than the single Noctua fan.
    4. Thermalright PA with ARCTIC MX-6: The change in paste had no effect on thermals or fan speeds over the TF7.

Bonus: I replaced the 2 fans that came with the Thermalright PA with 2 be quiet! Pure Wings 3 120mm Quiet PWM I ordered for a case. This had no effect on the thermals but the fan speeds are slightly slower at 700 rpm idle and 1500 rpm under Cinebench. More importantly, they run noticeably quieter. Under standard use I cannot hear them at all.

Takeaway 1: For $35 the Thermalright PA is a fantastic cooler and the larger dual fans make it quieter than the Noctua NH-D9L. I do like the size of the NH-D9L but for a gaming system the Thermalright PA will be my new go to.

Takeaway 2: CPU Grease makes much less of a difference than I thought. Maybe it is just the ones I tried but the reviews on the Artic MX-6 were stellar yet it barely did better than the Noctua NT-H1 that came with the cooler and didn’t do any better than the TF7 that came with the Thermalright PA. Save your money here and use it to buy better fans.

CPU is an Intel i7-14700kf on a GIGABYTE Z790 Eagle AX Motherboard with an 850 watt EVGA Power Supply if you want to know.

It does its job perfectly fine, pretty easy to apply and work with, no issues on my end, plus I've been able to use it for multiple devices.

5.0 out of 5 stars I always use Artic Thermal Pastes
Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2024
I purchased this to use on my computer heatsink and also on my thermal sensor for my espresso machine. I have never had issues with the ARTIC brand, and so this purchase was a no-brainer.

Tube squeezes evenly and in a controlled manner making it easy to get the desired amount in the exact place you need it. I believe the chemical composition will be more durable than older compounds, and will wick heat more effectively.
