About this item
Zander is in an auction house for the sole purpose of getting someone to sign a contract.
He doesn't have any interest in owning a blood slave—until he lays eyes on Max. That, he must have.
Max is there for reasons of his own, mostly desperate reasons, and he's braced himself for a year of hell, which doesn't seem to be forthcoming.
Someone needs to explain to this vampire that he's supposed to use Max, not spoil him. Zander doesn't seem to get it.
Tags: paranormal romance; blood slave contract thing, except Zander doesn't actually know how to own someone; I'm pretty sure he'd break out into hives if he couldn't spoil Max; Max has no idea what just hit him; he just knows he's somehow the responsible one, it's definitely not Zander; sexy times incoming!; Zander is a walking green flag; sass, so much sass incoming; light angst, mostly as an excuse for cuddles; stubborn to lovers; part-time soulmates, full-time problem; the whole story is just mindless violence and fluff; the summary really doesn't get across how much sex is in this but it's also not wrong; cinnamon protection squad, assemble!

I loved reading this while trying to spot the changes, but they were woven so seamlessly into the entirety of the whole that they were hard to spot and they include little things from a sentance or to extra as an added detail, a small 2-3 paragraph insert with added detail into character behavior and feelings, added dialogues and internal thoughts that are amazing and might become new catch phrases, they are so perfect.
There is a lot of added drama and some new characters have been introduced. I hope for more about a lot of new characters eventually since I think their stories could be amazing.
Fated Mates and Where to Find Them is sort of odd to begin with in that it’s book two of Sherwood’s Fated Mates series but book one hasn’t been released yet. And we get the couple from that first book in this novel in an interesting manner but what it does is highlight how much of the series world building is actually missing.
I did enjoy Fated Mates and Where to Find Them. I liked the couple, several of the secondary characters, and how fast paced the plot was. This story just flew by.
But it wasn’t supported by a strong foundation. I didn’t get anything as to the world structure. Vampire ruling class system? Human secondary status? Blood slaves? Where’d that come from? I’d have wanted more an idea of an overall portrait of the world in terms of paranormal development. I even knew who the villain was and what the dramatic event would be. How it would play out, no. But the general idea? Yes. Perhaps just a tighter overall narrative is needed.
Maybe that’s coming in the next book, which is book one. Normally it’s where we get a series foundation. I’m looking forward to seeing what Sherwood has in store for the characters we’ve already seen and how the author is going to handle a world where we’ve already been a visitor to.
Live fated mates, and vampires and humans as couples, this is a series you should check out.

Zander is a vampire and he finds Max at a blood auction. Zander is so sweet and sunshiny and just spoils Max like crazy! I loved how Zander referred to Max as “My Max”.
This was a quick sweet read. I liked it had duel POV. It was however not as steamy as the synopsis led me to believe. It was still an enjoyable story with fun characters.
I truly enjoyed this tale, and loved meeting Max and Zander, and hearing their story, and will enjoy reading Chase and Ronans book, along with Fernando and Noel’s. Now we’ve added two more fated mates to the group with the last part of our story.
It begins with Max being in a desperate situation that drives him to sell himself as a blood slave at a local auction. Zander is there because he’s chasing a business associate around, attempting to get some papers signed. Zander’s first look at Max, and he realizes Max isn’t meant for that kind of auction house, and that he wants him for his very own! And we are off from there! Such a fun read!
I think Max may have figured out that this was unlike anything he expected when instead of being used for a Vampires bedtime snack, he wakes up to breakfast being served to him in bed! That doesn’t sound much like how a slave is normally treated!! And it moves on from there. Hope you enjoy this story as much as I did! Can’t wait to read the next one.
2POV, 3rd person, past tense. This kindle edition 2nd November 2023.
This is pretty much what you can see from the blurb. It was a nice, easy and entertaining short bite of a vampire romance without much surprises. Nothing more complex than overprotective mates. Fun as such.
