The cup is made entirely of glass with a wooden lid. The glass does feel a bit fragile and I don't think that it would stand up to hot beverages well. It isn't fragile enough that I worry about it breaking under normal use though. The wording on the glass, aside from being perfect for a teacher, is etched in rather than a sticker. The etching looks very well done. The lid has a hole for a straw (NOT included) and has a silicone piece inside to hold the straw in place. The entire lid also has a silicone ring around it to seal the lid to the glass. It holds very nicely and isn't loose so the lid will stay put.
I think this is a very well made and nicely designed gift for a teacher. It looks great and, for $15 (the price at the time of this review), you can't go wrong. I do wish there was a straw of some sort included but it's not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of when you purchase it.
