5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!

I have played bass guitar for most of my life, but until I received this I have never played a bass uke. This is so much fun! It is a complete kit, bass uke, strings, tuner, case, everything you need. The big rubber strings seem weird to me, but they work great after some getting used to. You can even plug it into an amp and play and record it direct! This is a blast, anyone who plays bass or uke should give bass uke a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun to play!

This ukulele has bounced around to a few members of my family, and some friends as they visited as well.

My daughter-in-law while living with us was the one who spent the most time with it, and these are her words:

The sound was really good while hooked up to the amplifier. The battery went dead really fast. The sound was even good without being plugged in, as far as playing around with it,

We had a string break very shortly after we received it. The tuning pegs -- the one with the string we had problems with -- it acted weird, and when turning it, it would start doing a weird clicking thing, and it wouldn't actually turn. I don't know if the peg contributed to the string breaking or not. That part was pretty frustrating.

It is a decent build, not necessarily the best quality available, but good.

The ukulele was incredibly comfortable, and it was fun to play.

But the sound is great.

A friend of the family (a musician) has played with it as well, and he didn't have a lot to say, other than commenting about how much fun it was to play.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only arrived with the bag!

Just a little disappointed because this only came with the gig bag. It didn't arrive with all the other things it is supposed to. Also there is not another nut to properly use a strap with this thing. I originally purchased for my son because he needed something smaller than the 5 string bass we have. Now i'm afraid he wont really be able to use it due to not being able to even hold it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique ukulele with bass strings.

This is a rather standard sized ukulele with built-in pickups, but it contains bass guitar strings that are tuned to the bass scale. The pickups appear to be suitable for picking up this frequency as well, although we have experimented with swapping the strings out for regular ones and it also picks that up properly. With this product you also receive a strap, and a few other accessories as seen in the picture. The only thing you will need in addition to this item is a 9 volt battery to activate the pickups and built-in tuner. It plugs into both a regular guitar jack as well as a microphone jack and has inputs for both.

The ukulele itself is definitely meant for a beginner. It has a lightweight body, easy to turn tuners, and good action. I have honestly never seen or heard of a ukulele in bass but it is real and it works. I am playing it much like a bass guitar however, and therefore not getting much benefit from the normally unique scale of a ukulele.

If you are looking for a unique instrument to experiment with or to take on stage, this bass ukulele is a great alternative to a regular bass guitar or cello. With some creativity it can be converted into a regular ukulele, although I think the tuners themselves will ultimately not hold out with that. Overall it is well made and a lot of fun to play.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is definitely not a serious instrument, but it is fun premium toy

This is a ukulele-sized bass guitar. It's tuned just like a normal bass guitar, so it's very easy to pick this up and play. It's quite fun, but it's not a perfect experience.

Naturally because of it's size, the frets are so much closer that it does take some getting used to. I found that I had to readjust a bit when I picked up my regular bass guitar. I think that sort of limits any practice value that this has.

Similarly because of it's small size it has to use a completely different kind of string. The strings are some kind of rubber material that feels completely different than bass guitar strings. This also takes some getting used to.

I will say that in spite of these 2 things, it really is a blast to play with this thing. I just snatch it up when I feel like tinkering and just play a little bit... no need to get my big bass out of the case and set up and amp. Just play. I kind of treat it like a bass toy.

The only REALLY annoying thing is how quickly this drains batteries. It uses a 9-volt battery for the tuner and electronics. I've not bothered plugging it into an amp, so I don't know how it sounds (probably pretty bad, but that's not what this is for). I use the tuner every time I pick this up because the strings are rubber and stretch out of tune pretty quickly. It will chew through an entire battery in a week whether you use it or not. Thank goodness I have rechargeable 9-volt batteries.

This was really cute and I liked it at first, but the rubber strings were VERY buzzy, and it went through a battery within a day or two. I returned and went with the Cordoba Mini.
