As with the previous books, battle scenes get a bit long winded from time to time and there are status and skill upgrades to skim/skip over. Nevertheless, the characters and story continue to be interesting and enjoyable.
And dear author, if you're reading this, thanks for the recap at the beginning. When I read books back to back, I occasionally skip the recap. When it's been a minute-- for example, when I've had to wait for the next book to be published-- it is quite helpful to be reminded where things left off. When no such recap is provided, my enjoyment of the first few chapters is lessened as I have to flounder around until I remember which minor characters are which and why we care about them. The recap serves as a memory prompt, so no floundering is needed and the enjoyment immediately begins. So thank you for writing them. And thank you for writing about Jake and his friends. It is truly a novel and interesting tale.
