With more and more stores using QR codes to advertise in store specials or promotions, it becomes necessary that you have a reader that can quickly scan and translate the code for you. App has been quick and reliable when used. Very intuitive controls for use.
I think the bigger "help" is that you need a modern phone with a good camera as it makes a large difference.
