I am extremely pleased with this. For the price I was expecting something cheaply made, impossible to use. There was no way I could get good pictures, I thought.

First off, it's very well constructed. Heavy, sturdy steel. The lenses seem crystal clear. It feels like a more expensive item. It's not some 3D printed, mass produced piece of crap. Definitely worth more than the price, as far as workmanship is concerned.

Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality I got. Of course the first pictures I took were of the moon (like everyone else). You can actually see craters. The picture of the rabbit--that's from about 50 feet away, hand held, no tripod. You can see for yourself the color and the clarity.

Now, this IS a manual lens. I'm using a Nikon D3200, very basic DSLR, set to MANUAL. After experimenting with different ISO's and shutter speeds, and some pictures that didn't turn out, I think I got the hang of it. For the moon picture I did have to mount it on a tripod and use the timer release to click the shot, to minimize blur. But you can get good pictures without a tripod for distances up to about 50 feet.

Definitely worth the price. I wasn't quite ready to invest in a $3000-10,000 lens. This does what I need it to do.

I opened the box 10 min ago. The lens easily attached to my Canon Rebel using the provided T mount adapter. The hex tool also porvided was not needed. Its a manual focus lens so I had some concerns but I was able to focus the lens faster than my standard ef-s lenses set on auto focus. Picture quality is yet to be determined but the image on the cameras viewing screen is impressive. In my novice opinion this lens is worth twice the price.
Another plus is I receved the lens in perfect condition 2 days early. When purchasing in the future I will be checking this companys lenses first.

This lens requires skill with your camera. It's awkwardly long, especially at 800mm. Focal adjustment rotation range is nearly two full turns. However, if you want to shoot bright targets that aren't moving at greater than 400mm, this is about the least expensive way to do it. They saved money by giving it T-threads and including the appropriate T-adapter for your camera.

I bought it for shooting the sun through solar film, and it will work fine for that. Focusing is the greatest challenge, especially since you're standing in bright sunlight. In my experience, optical, or through the viewfinder focusing works best, but even on a tall tripod it's in an awkward position when viewing the sun mid day.

The lens itself was impressive. I wasn't expecting much as it was pretty inexpensive, but my initial pictures were pretty good! Yes, using a tripod is needed unless you're very lucky. Yes, manual focus is a hassle, but that's the way it was in the old days so, suck it up - LOL! It still was well worth the cost - until the metal on the tripod mounting ring broke after only trying it out about 4 times in 6 months. Now, I cannot reliably mount the lens at all and I'm not going to risk my camera, hoping it will just stay. Because of the cheap steel they used, it's pretty much useless now.

Had fun playing around and startled by what I could see thru the lens but did not result in clear pictures. I adjusted the settings but had to get the lens really wide open to have enough light. I guess it will be okay for long distance scenery...maybe, but not for catching birds and such as they will be moving. It was a cheap buy on Prime day and good for playing with

As pics show, these all shot at full 800mm. No tripod, all hand shots. It is going to add some bulk, but if you have good methods of holding telephoto lenses you know how to do it. I just got this today, and the quality is really nice for the 80 or so bucks spent. This resolves nicely on my D750 though it shows DX, and crops the image. It didn't state DX lens in the order details or description, but I assumed it would be. Full frame tele lenses just don't come with $80-100 price tags.
Build quality is great too... again for the price. Focus ring is tight, and I like that. Most kit lenses DX lenses are on the loose focus ring side of things. Too easy to move. The lens cap is the weakest point. Spring was stuck. I can get another if needed. Not a big deal. This basically makes your camera look like a small telescope. The included T ring for the lens is nicely made. No issues, all metal and has 3 small allen screws for extra security to the lens mount. Comes with lens caps, faux leather case. Some chromatic aberration is to be expected, but overall if your subject is center, it's not bad. The flag picture above with the cloud background was shot at the full 800mm. The problem I had in my camera was not being able to set the Aperture. It fixed at F22. Auto ISO did well enough for most shots. I bought this to photo rocket launches as well. Great lens, awesome price!!! Not good in low light though, so don't expect much there. Should work better on a tripod for moon, or even bright planets. Going to try getting Jupiter and it's bigger moons.

It works OK for the price. Not the best lens for serious photography but OK for night pics of the moon or water front or wilderness photos.
Still a good training lens for prepping for a future better and more expensive purchase.

I wanted to use this lens to shoot photos of bears near where I live in Montana. They are grizzly bears that gather in a specific area to eat a specific plant so they’re a predator to humans and it’s required to use a telephoto lens, the longer the better, for safety reasons. I found the focus ring was just very tight and hard to turn and that is not going to work for the type of stop action shooting I do, the focus also was not as crisp and I would see in something that shoots a little more opened up. It is no longer a practical purchase because it does t quite work for what I needed. For beginners or something this might be a good tool in patience and staged shots
