We originally bought this dehumidifier to put beside my bookshelf, then we ended up moving to a 3rd floor apartment and now have it in the dining room (a central area). It's been doing it's job well! You can tell it's less humid in the apartment and the water tank is nice size where we aren't having to empty it multiple times a day. We can actually go about 3-4 days before emptying it. We live semi on the coast so it isn't like Florida humidity but enough that my hair is always frizzy. The noise is not too loud in my opinion, I kind of like it as a background noise at night, almost like having white noise playing. I can't say anything about the longevity yet but will update if we have issues.
