About this item

Things have reached a critical point in the Middle East. Carter agreed to serve as a consultant for his old Force Recon unit but, for reasons unknown to his friends and family, jumped from the command center and into the field. Now he’s MIA, and Fortune is the only one who can put together a rescue mission that has any chance of being successful. But will her skills and connections be enough?

Most Sinful residents are unaware of Carter’s crisis and are going about their daily lives as they always have, including local prankster Gage Babin. Except this time, Gage’s attempt to elicit laughs leaves him on a slab in the medical examiner’s office. Everyone knows how unhealthy he was, but Fortune thinks there’s more to his death than a poorly timed prank that caused his bad heart to give out.

Unfortunately, what she knows and what she can prove are two different things. And unless she can find the evidence to support her theory, someone will get away with murder.

Suspense, hilarity, emotional wringer episodes, romance… it’s the perfect story. I’m going to make sure I read every one! Well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book in this series so far - and that is saying something!

I absolutely adore this series. I have read all the books many, many times. This particular book starts out with bang - buckle up cuz it's quite a ride! It's a page turner from the get go. There are genuine laugh out loud moments, tense action scenes, and a great murder mystery. And it's all involving the characters we have grown to love and cherish. Highly recommend - but if you haven't read all the previous books, start at the beginning: Louisiana Longshot. It will be such a treat. Each and every book is delightful, you'll soon find yourself reading them over and over too. Well done Jana! Thank you so very much for another fabulous time.

The rescue mission was early and a quick portion of the book. A quick puzzle of a murder and an incident to set up the next book. Always fun reads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 26 in the awesome Miss Fortune series

Swamp Spies is the 26th book in the Miss Fortune series and had a bit of a different vibe than the other books. There was a cliffhanger at the end of the last book and if was resolved in an exciting fashion at the beginning of this book. There were some interesting tie-ins to the rest of the story as well. Carter was oversees with his Marine unit and at the end of the last book he went missing. Fortune and friends went to rescue Carter. It was all really well done and exciting. Carter's recovery is realistic. I figured he would jump right in with the local case but he is distracted and recuperating. Andy Blanchet is still acting Sheriff. Fortune and Carter hear about a funny prank that is causing problems so out of curiosity they go check it out. Unfortunately Fortune discovers a local dead. Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie begin to investigate. This part of the book for the most part is a lot lighter, funnier and the usual antics especially Bertie and Ronald. It makes up for the heart pounding beginning. Both Georgia's parrot and Gertie's gator make an appearance. Lots of laughs. This wasn't one of the more interesting murder mystery endings but it was different and the setup for the next book sounds interesting. #SwamoSpies #MissFortuneMysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting and varied tale

Fortune Redding and her loyal friends Ida Bell and Gertie have more than the usual action in Swamp Spies. The book opens with a daring undercover rescue in Iran and continues back home in Sinful Louisiana with a mysterious death that looks like a prank gone wrong but could be a cleverly designed murder. More details would only spoil the fun. The laughs and the action are blended in Jana DeLeon’s signature style and will definitely keep the reader entertained throughout. Highly recommended’

Keeps one on the edge of one's seat. VERY well written. Keeps things moving right along. I love Ms Delon's grasp of character. Story is great. Sympathetic to deserved characters, and not to others ( Kitts ). Sinful is delightful!

5.0 out of 5 stars From the deserts to the swamps - Fortune always gets her man

Another great addition to the series. Bk 26 has a very different beginning than the earlier books, as Fortune and Harrison mount a secret op to rescue Carter. What they don't realize is that if they're successful, it's going to create even bigger problems for a lot of "Very Important People Who Don't Want Anyone To Know The Truth."

Meanwhile, a Sinful publicity stunt is going on, but it turns into a situation for the Swamp Team 3 to discover some well-hidden secrets before the truth comes out.

Gertie's casseroles play a major role, deservedly; and Godzilla lives up to his name once again!
