5.0 out of 5 stars Ring Indoor Camera (2nd Gen): A Solid Security Option for Indoor Monitoring
Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2024
The Ring Indoor Camera (2nd Gen) is a strong contender in the indoor security camera market, offering a balance of affordability, functionality, and user-friendliness. Here's a detailed breakdown of its strengths and a couple of areas for consideration:

Strengths:

Clear Video Quality: While not the absolute sharpest on the market, the 1080p HD video provides a clear picture for monitoring your indoor space. You can easily identify people and objects within the frame.
Excellent Night Vision: The Ring Indoor Camera shines (pun intended) in low-light conditions. The color night vision delivers a crisp image, allowing you to see details even in the dark. This is a significant advantage over cameras that rely solely on black and white night vision.
Top-Notch Motion Detection and App Features: The Ring app offers a suite of robust motion detection features. You can customize motion zones, set sensitivity levels, and receive real-time alerts when motion is detected. The app itself is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to control the camera, access live feeds, and review recorded footage.
Physical Privacy Switch: A unique and appreciated feature is the physical privacy cover. This mechanical switch provides a tangible way to block the camera lens and disable audio recording, offering peace of mind when you don't need monitoring.
Areas for Consideration:

Microphone Performance: While the microphone picks up some audio, it can be a bit hit-or-miss. In quieter environments, you might miss crucial conversations or sounds.
Overall:

Despite the minor quibble about microphone range, the Ring Indoor Camera (2nd Gen) delivers a compelling package. The combination of clear video, exceptional night vision, and a feature-rich app makes it a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and easy-to-use indoor security camera. If you prioritize crystal clear audio recording, you might want to explore some alternative options, but for most users, the Ring Indoor Camera offers excellent value and exceeds expectations.

I got these for monitoring inside the house when I’m away and the cameras are so clear and the Ring app is incredibly easy to use. I’m very happy with this purchase and definitely recommend these cameras for piece of mind.

We are using this as a baby monitor and it works well. The image quality is good and it tells my phone any time the baby starts moving.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are great!

I bought these to help me take care of my elderly parents that live a distance away. It has been a great help in monitoring their activities. They have caregivers in the home. It helps in working with them as well. You can monitor and see what is necessary without being obtrusive. They were easy to set up. (Even for me, not being all that tech savvy) just read the directions carefully. It has made things a lot easier because at any time, you can look in to see how things are going. You can rewind to check times of occurrences, and listen to information given, ie, nurses visiting, doctors, etc. Would highly recommend them.

Not as convenient as the wireless version, but that’s reflected in the price. So far so good. The video quality is decent and it Somehow records the sunrise every morning. Which is kind of cool. Easy set up and so far it’s been reliable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect mobile option for moving around the house.
Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2024
I purchased this camera to use around the house depending on the need. For example, I have it trained on my 3-D printer so I can monitor longer print jobs while away from the print room. When it's not being used there, It's in my garage monitoring the garage door activity. We also placed it on the living room fireplace mantle while we were on vacation to keep an eye on the house - you can also monitor audio from the camera.

The picture quality of the 1080p camera is pretty impressive, as is the dynamic range and low-light capability. When not in use, simply slide the cover over the lens, and it goes to sleep.

Great versatility and integrates well with the rest of our Ring ecosystem. Also, at $60 (at least that's what it was when I purchased it), it won't be a budget buster compared to the added security you get.

The camera is very clear and I can check on my dog while away from my home. The camera sits on a small table and I does not have to be mounted and it is plugged in to a nearby outlet. I am very pleased with this camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best caregiver purchase ever!

My husband has some cognitive issues and as his caregiver I worry whenever I’m out of the house for even a little while. Setting up two of these cameras, one in the kitchen and one in the living room, has given me so much peace of mind! I told him about them of course, and he agrees it’s a good idea just as a safety net in my brief absences. Installation is a user-friendly breeze, and no subscription is required for the basic supervision I use it for. The image is so clear, no lag time in the video, audio is great. I find myself leaving it turned on sometimes even when we’re both home :), just to be alerted what he’s up to in the next room. A caregivers’ dream come true!
