5.0 out of 5 stars Game changer!

This is the best printer I’ve ever had. It is so easy to use and the large paper tray is really convenient. Prints quality is great. It is very easy to connect and print from my computer and phone. Smaller size than my last terrible Canon printer with a tray, loader, etc. Good overall value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid printer, great ink usage

I initially had trouble with network discovery on my wi-fi network, particularly with Apple Airprint. I was on the verge of returning the printer since I had no such issues with my old Brother printer, which finally needed replacing after 9 years (due to software incompatibility btw, not any hardware defect). Luckily, I refused to believe that my Android, Apple, and Windows devices would all have trouble connecting. So, I checked a couple of forums and discovered it was my router's configuration that was the culprit. I made the adjustments (disabling airtime fairness and making sure to a single SSID for 2.4GHz and 5Ghz, in case you are having a similar issue) and bang, it was working. Using a static IP speeds discovery using the Epson app, but ultimately isn't necessary. Once working, the printer is everything other reviews say. It's little slow, particularly scanning at higher resolution, slightly loud, but very solid with good quality. Ink usage is amazing. My wife just started a class and has been printing hundreds of pages a week, since that is her preference. I have not seen the ink level budge. I truly believe that we would already have burned through the "starter" cartridges on a $99 printer and would be paying at least another $100 for genuine refills. That has been my experience in the past, even with the Brother. I believe we will break even at the 1.5-2 year mark, without any need to touch the printer. One other note: If you are concerned about the printer heads drying out during periods of low usage, just set up a scheduled monthly full-color print job. That should keep the heads moist and it won't make a dent in your ink supply. This is fairly simple on a Windows machine, although I have no experience scheduling tasks on any other OS.

5.0 out of 5 stars More expensive to buy, but inexpensive to run.

I like the print quality, and I like the refillable ink, which will greatly reduce the long-term cost of this printer.

The setup was a little confusing. There a three tracks, the paper instructions, the phone App, and the Menu on the printer. Sometimes it was not clear which one had the right next step, but I got through it.

I was worried about the refill process and possibly spilling ink. I should not have worried. This printer has special shaped nozzles for each color, so you can't really put the wrong color in the wrong place, and the mechanism makes it easy to load the ink with a good seal, so there is no spillage.

It is too early to say how reliable it is, but early results are great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good printer

This is my 2nd EcoTank Printer Overall I love them and would give the 4.3 stars
Pros:
The ink lasts a really long time. I print a lot of pages and the ink can last me up to 6 months. You can use "off-market" ink and your ink cost will be nil so the printer is worth it.
Wireless, fax, scanning and Auto Document Feeder (ADF) great for at home business use.
I like that everything closes up to keep the dust out as well. It makes it look boxy, but who cares.
Touch screen.
Set up is ridiculously easy with your phone and you can download the software for printing apps onto your laptop/desktop.
CONS:
My biggest/only issue with them is the flimsy materials/moving parts.
This is replacing an ET-4500 and it had the same issue. 2 weeks ago the part that holds the paper just fell. It wasn't being overburdened w/ paper it just fell and there was no part replacement for it so I had to get this one.
In this model, they have increased the size & position of the paper tray and the output tray. The output tray is built different so it is stronger than in the ET4500, but the plastic should be much more sturdier for both trays. Just moving it back and forth I realize that I have to be careful. This is my only issue w/ this product.
Also word to the wise. You should print something, even just a test page, at least once a week. This, imho, keeps the ink from drying up and clogging the nozzle.

I don't consider the price to be a sticking point b/c when you look at how much you save in ink over the long hall, the printer pays for itself in a years time vs. hunting for the exact ink cartridge.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke my Network
Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2024
I purchased this Epson printer because I was looking for a good wireless printing option for my home. It arrived the next day, and I proceeded to set it up
The setup process was fairly straightforward but somewhat wonky - the machine had trouble finding my network, even though it was placed one foot from the wireless router. After manually entering the IP address, the machine was able to print from my computer, but was never able to print from my wife's computer - ten feet away in an adjacent room (also with a wireless satellite nearby).
Once the printer was set up (with only one device - my desktop computer), it started throwing the multiple Sonos speakers off the network, breaking the connection between my TV and the network, etc. etc.
How do I know it was the Epson that futzed with the network? Because if I turned the printer off, or unplugged it, the wireless connections were immediately restored. (I tried this experiment three times over the four days I possessed the printer, and each time had the same result).
I called tech support, and they were useless (unplug your modem, your router and unplug all devices connected to the router, blah blah), offering up the sort of info that anyone remotely familiar with networking word have already done, but offered up zero suggestions.
I have returned the printer.
