About this item
From Jennifer L. Armentrout, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of From Blood and Ash, comes the beginning of a heartstopping romantic fantasy series about angels, demons and gargoyles where a girl with an explosive secret hiding place has just been discovered…
Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her gift is the reason she’s been in hiding for years in a compound guarded by Wardens—shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her to enhance their powers.
When Wardens from another clan arrive with reports that something is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to trust Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

I loved the character development and the mood. It was a great fantasy and thriller mix. This book is a good introduction to the series!

The spin-off you been waiting for!

I got an EARC of this story for an honest review by Armentrout and I will get real honest with you.
This new series is a spin off of The Dark Elements series which is one of my favorite of all time.
If you are not convinced that you need to pre order this book by the description alone, I don't know what will make you do it. I will try to persuade you in this review so beware.
As I mentioned before Storm and Fury is a spinoff of The Dark Elements series which is one of my favorites series out there and when I learned that Armentrout was revisiting that world I knew I needed to get my hands on this book right away.
I got the EARC about two months ago (maybe a little more than that), sadly I had to put it on hold because I had to read other books that were coming out sooner, but finally I read it early May and oh gosh you guys!!!! I could not put it down.
Storm and Fury begins about 6 months after the events of Every Last Breath. If you have not read the Dark Elements trilogy or if you have not gotten to the last installment (i.e. Every Last Breath) don't worry you don't have to be completely aware of what happened in that story (but it would help you understand some smaller details and it's an AMAZING trilogy so why wouldn't you?) to be able to follow along this new one.
Long story short, we star with our new female lead Trinity (the whole name is a pun on it's own, you guys are going to love it when Roth brings it up), she lives at this basically HQ for Wardens where they train new ones and after trained they assign them to different clans all over the US.
She is half human, half mystery (for about half the book you do find out what her other half of DNA is made up of, but when you do, it kind of blows your mind a little LOL).
She has these powers and she is very strong, but she is going blind. Although it's something that comes up quite a lot (I feel Armentrout does this so us the readers understand how it is to live with such a disease) it's not forced or disruptive to the story, most of the time you kind of forget she has this illness until she reminds you of it, it was wonderfully written in the story.
Trinity trains with her best friend and protector, Misha, they train almost every day for something that is coming.
What is coming you ask?
She doesn't know and neither do we. She just knows that her father wants her prepare for what is to come.
(Also, you will be blown away when you find out who her father is. Just saying there are a bunch of plot twist in this story so be prepared.)
All the training and power she has cannot prepare her for what is really to come.
Zayne along with two other members of the D.C. clan come to HQ for reinforcement. Something is killing Wardens and Demons alike. They don't know what it is, but they need all the help they can get.
Trinity and Zayne have a connection almost right away. There is something attracting them to each other and it's hot and heavy from the beginning.
Like Layla in the previous series, Trinity longs for something she can't have. Living with Wardens means she doesn't have a lot of contact with the outside world and a lot of the beings she interacts with think of her just as a worthless human, most of them don't know what other half she is so they sort of discriminate against her.
Trinity knows she is destined for something great, yet she is still a teenager and she longs and dreams for normal teenage things, so when the opportunity presents itself at the expenses of a tragedy she takes up the offer Zayne gives her to come with them to D.C.
The moment she arrives to D.C. all hell breaks loose, literally.
There are things out to get her and she is not safe and then there is Zayne who gives her mixed signals and who is so closed off yet so open with her.
Trinity is faced with challenges she never expected, but she has something to accomplished and she will risk everything to make things work and fix what she thinks she is responsible for.
Storm and Fury brings you unexpected mythical creatures and that is what I like the most about Armentrout's books, she brings awareness to some epic mythical stories that just rock your world when you read about them.
This story is going to blow your mind and leave you wanting more. Trinity's story is unlike anything I read in a long time.
She is this strong independent female lead we all wish we could be. This story has everything you could wish for, mystery, beautiful mythical creatures, adventure, love and we also get a glimpse of what life has been life for Zayne after everything went down with him and Layla and we also get to see Layla and Roth and how their life has moved forward.
I completely recommend you guys go and buy this book, because it's amazing, swoon worthy and just perfection.

Phenomenal start to a new series with both beloved familiar faces and intriguing newcomers
Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2019
I have been waiting very impatiently for this book to arrive, and once it hit my Kindle I was torn between wanting to devour it and wanting to take my time so that it wouldn't end too soon! I was wholeheartedly Team Roth when reading the Dark Elements series, but I did have love for Zayne too because he was such a genuinely good guy so I was very excited to dive into the start of a series featuring him.
Storm and Fury picks up several months after the end of Every Last Breath but it opens in a new setting at the regional seat of the Wardens. Trinity has lived there for the last 10 years, but only a very small handful of people know the true reason she is there. Trinity appears to be human to the casual observer but we soon realize she is something much more significant and powerful. She has been trained to fight with the Wardens, and her abilities surpass most of them on any given day. But she also suffers from a degenerative eye disease that is slowly robbing her of her vision so she trains twice as hard to develop her skills and instinctual reactions.
When it comes to her personality, she had me cracking up repeatedly! She definitely operates with a healthy dose of sarcasm and snark, but it hides a deeper yearning to really connect with someone who knows the real Trinity and sees her as more than the truth of her genetics. She spends most of her time with her bonded Protector Misha but he is like the brother she never had and she is very rarely allowed to venture too far from his presence- or off the clan's property for that matter.
Since visitors are very rarely allowed to the compound she lives in, she is stunned when Wardens from the DC clan are not only granted access but are actually invited to stay for awhile. Curiosity quickly wins out and she rushes to eavesdrop on the newcomers' meeting with her pseudo-father Thierry to find out the scoop- but the world comes to a standstill when she gets a good look at the hot blond Warden. They don't exactly get off on the right foot and Trinity's snarky side is out in full force, but neither can shake the feeling of familiarity or that they have met before.
Zayne, Nicolai and Dez have come in search of help with a threat, but they are not entirely sure what is behind the sudden increase in deaths of both Wardens and demons alike. Zayne is still at odds with most of his clan after the events of the last year, and he has not assumed the leadership role that most would have expected after his father's death so rumors fly around Trinity's home on that topic. Despite Misha's dislike of the other Warden and warnings that he is not a good person, she sees no indication that Misha is right- and that is not just the crazy attraction speaking either!
When danger arrives in Trinity's backyard against all odds, things get real and a change in venue to the DC clan's territory is warranted. As the proverbial you-know-what is about to hit the fan, Trinity's wish to experience more of the world is granted. Which brings me to another interesting point about her: she can see and communicate with ghosts who have not moved on and spirits who have crossed over but came back for a specific reason. Enter the absolutely hilarious Peanut, a ghost who refuses to cross over and insists on keeping Trinity company, and he has no intention of staying behind when she heads out with Zayne. (If you have read JLA's Wicked trilogy, think Tink in ghost form!)
The characters in Storm and Fury are so well written from familiar faces to the newly introduced! The changes Zayne has undergone are revealed- and he has become even hotter with the newly developed edges. A certain beloved demon prince and half demon/ half something-else-entirely are pulled in to help find the source of the threat, and that leads to a visit with one that Roth loved and lost. Oh and there just may be a very familiar face in the form of a spirit that interacts with Trinity... I cannot wait for that reveal to happen! While this is part one of a series, it doesn't end on a horrible cliffhanger so I am OK with waiting for the next book... even though patience is not a virtue that I possess a lot of! If you haven't read the Dark Elements series yet, you don't have to in order to enjoy this book but it will be SO much better and meaningful if you do IMHO.
