5.0 out of 5 stars Essential book for the beginner or intermediate level player looking to learn recognizable songs quickly.

Tons of great songs in here. Nice beginner format. Does not generally include solos, but this book will get you playing some of the most popular rocks songs for beginner guitar players. I am at an Intermediate skill level, just starting to learn modes and all 5 positions of the Major and Minor Pentatonic scales. I have been playing for just under 2 years. Most of these songs I can learn on my lunch break at work and play along with the original track on the same day. Most of my studies have been around technique and not learning songs, so this book has allowed me to get up to speed on well known songs, quickly. I wish I had found this book when I first started. You can get playing real songs, very quickly, as long as you can read tablature. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn a bunch of songs quickly or is not already "playing by ear".

If you are just starting out, this is not for you. Tab knowledge is a must, but loads of great songs. Has tabs and lyrics, happy to have it in my library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of songs, not a lot of explanation

This book jumps right into the tablature but doesn't fully explain how to read it if you're just starting out reading guitar tabs. I can't tell how I'm supposed to strum amongst other small details that would make reading it clearer. I tried to find relevant info on google, but couldn't find examples of charts to read in the manner that this book is written. Handy if you're trying to learn some new songs, but a bit confusing.

Good book, songs are fairly easy if you know tab. Good to learn from chord diagrams on top of page

3.0 out of 5 stars I have mixed feedback to give

This is great for beginners if they want to learn songs with tab. The problem is the songs aren't complete. They only give you pieces of it. The second problem is they're not really authentic. They just give you an idea of getting close to the sound and Rhythm of a song, but after buying the full version sheet music of songs in other places, I realized the ones found in this book are very simplified. If you want to learn the whole song and whole chords, this book will not be for you. I was ok with it, but I am very disappointed. After finding the whole versions from other places, I realized the ones found in the book are lacking a lot of detail. Maybe it's meant to be simplified and for beginners, but it should explain that then.

This is a great resource for picking up songs quickly, especially if you know basic chords and can read chord diagrams but don't read sheet music. Songs are printed so that you don't have to turn pages to see the whole song, which is a serious plus.
