We do a lot of wood working and use minwax Polycrylic on everything. It works beautifully over stain or paint. I even use it as a sealer on diamond art projects. It's very versatile and clean up with water.

I have an Etsy shop making/selling door hangers and wood signs. I use Polycrylic DAILY so I've had plenty of practice getting it right.
Regardless of what some are saying in their reviews...Polycrylic is best applied with a sponge brush. I have NEVER had any luck with a regular brush (synthetic OR natural)!
I coat the entire sign or door hanger in it quickly, making sure it's everywhere. Then starting at the top, I lightly go over it all once again with long sweeping single strokes (end to end) from the top to the bottom of the sign. You're really just "smoothing" your original brush strokes. You MUST do this all pretty quickly though! This stuff dries REALLY FAST and the longer you wait to smooth it, the more it's likely to streak. SO WORK FAST!!
It will also dry with streak lines in it if you're not using enough product. I apply Polycrylic pretty liberally for this reason, almost flooding it and it dries wonderfully.
If it does dry streaky don't worry! You can go over it with another thicker coat and it'll cover/hide the streaks from the first coat. I really only use one coat unless I have to go over it to smooth things out.
Another tip...Have a pair of tweezers handy! That way you can easily pull out any debris (like dog hair!) that may make its way in there before it dries! Having tweezers handy can really save your project!
There's a little learning curve when working with this stuff at first but once you get it down, you'll NEVER go back to using ModPodge or any of the other messy junk that you're using now!
You also won't find a better price on this either, unless maybe it's on sale. It's at least $2-$5 cheaper here on Amazon than at Menards or even Walmart.

This must be old stock. There were significant masses of congealed finish in the can's bottom. No amount of power assisted stirring would dissolve it. Even if you are brushing this product on, you will need to strain it or have globs in your finish. I am considering obtaining this from other sources when I need to reorder.
