5.0 out of 5 stars How To Get Good Popcorn

First of all Popcorn is a whole grain and a good source of fiber and low in calories as a snack. I used to get the bags for the microwave and then started to read the ingredients, where the kernels where from and was appalled so started to look for healthy alternatives. First bought nongmo organic popcorn and used a pot on the stove to pop it and it didn't turn out so well. Then found this glass popper for the microwave which is essentially like using the popcorn bags but now controlling the type of popcorn that I can use. Buy nongmo organic bags of popcorn kernels. I'm super happy with this popper but let me give you some tips for success.

1. Do not add butter to the top of the cover as it will end up burning anyway before all the kernels are finished popping and taste bad. Add it after.

2. Add fewer kernels than you think maybe half the top measure otherwise you will get burnt kernels before the last ones are popped. If you need more just do two sessions.

3. Use the high power on the microwave for 3 minutes. Place the popper in the dead center of the microwave tray, not rotating around the edge. That's very important. You will then get the kernels popping the fastest and get a good batch. As soon as you hear the first 3 second lag of popping hit the stop button if there's too much time left. Be prepared to expect that some kernels may not be popped. Discard them as they are not reusable but hopefully you get better at guaging the pop level. Popping too long will result in yucky burned popcorn making good popcorn smell and taste bad so better to sacrifice some unpopped kernels for better popcorn.

4. Although I've given you advice it may take a few sessions to get good at it so don't give up. I like the fact that the popcorn is being popped in a glass popper, not fried in a pot, not popped in a bag with who knows what chemicals are in it.

5. Enjoy.

My Sunbeam air popcorn maker makes the regular popping corn very fluffy. This microwave popcorn maker did not make them very fluffy when I cooked them in it for two minutes.
Felt very disappointed to see that. Next I tried making microwave popcorn in this pot again. Even though it seemed to make more this time with the same amount of popcorn. And made on my microwaved popcorn setting That time it made the resulting popcorn about 49 percent fluffier than previously. On the preset popcorn cycle it did not burn any. There were more unpopped kernels left in the bottom, even though the fluffier pop made it seem like more popcorn had popped than with the 2 minute popping method made. The gourmet popcorrn might pop fluffier. Not sure though since my microwave I used was only a 1000 watt microwave

Revolutionary popcorn experience! The Micro-Pop Microwave Popcorn Popper has transformed my movie nights into gourmet adventures. Not only is it a breeze to use, wash it in the dishwasher. The best part? The freedom to create my own flavored popcorn concoctions! Whether it's a savory garlic parmesan or a sweet cinnamon sugar, this popper consistently delivers perfectly popped kernels, every single time. Plus, adding butter before popping ensures each batch is infused with rich, buttery goodness. Say goodbye to bland microwave popcorn and hello to a whole new world of flavor!

I'll admit that I had doubts about this item. However, I've used it half a dozen times, with fantastic results. The popcorn is tender, with hardly any unpopped kernels. Take the advice from the instructions and plop a big ole hunk of butter on the lid, and let it melt down onto the corn as it pops.
Result: perfect delicious single serving of popcorn with easy cleanup. Pop it into the dishwasher and use it again soon!

this really is great! I don't really like microwave popcorn, this is a great way to make it almost as good as stove top, super easy to use. Pour in kernels, microwave 3 minutes, done. Has a top to melt butter while it cooks, took my microwave 4 1/2 minutes if I melt butter. I wanted more butter, so now I pop for 3 minutes, then melt the butter in the hot container after removing pop corn. Last night I cooked for 3 minutes, popcorn started to burn, watch the time, each time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good With Caveats

I’ll just start with the pros and cons:

Pros: * Good size for 2 people, sharing a few popped kernels with their 2 spoiled dogs. * Dishwasher safe. * Attractive popcorn popper, offered in multiple colors

Cons: Not efficient without oil.

So here’s what I found… Make sure popper is clean and dry. Put about a tablespoon of sunflower or safflower oil in the bottom and coat evenly. Add 2 “lids” worth of popcorn kernels. (The lid doubles as a measuring device.) Add another tablespoon of oil. Cover with lid of popper. My microwave is low powered and it takes about 4 minutes to completely pop. To judge when you should stop your microwave, use the 2-second rule. When you don’t hear any pops for 2 seconds, stop your microwave.

All in all it’s a good popcorn popper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Butter Melting Feature Clogs

Loved the idea of this. Bought the 3qt size, read and followed all directions. Much of the Organic Amish Mushroom popcorn I bought at the same time did not pop, and what did - scorched. Started over w/clean, dried container, did one scoop of popcorn. Better results, still many unpopped kernels and scorched popcorn. Tried the popcorn in pan on stove - will not be getting that popcorn again threw out a burnt half popped batch, went back to glass microwave popper. Popped a single batch without butter - PERFECT (popcorn still has too many unpopped kernels)
Not happy that I cannot use the butter feature, it’s what drew me to this item. I melt butter in Pyrex dish before popping corn, and drizzle it on popcorn when it’s fresh out of microwave.
