I feel like a lot of people made some of these out to be horrible. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this ice maker is quite good for what it was worth. The ice actually lasts for a decent amount of time, and even if it does melt the water goes right back into tank and gets reused for new ice. And it makes a decent amount of ice each time and once it gets going it gets going quickly. I live in a house of 4 and we go through a lot of ice, the ice holder may seem small but it works very well as it holds a bit of ice before it gets full. It does have a chemical smell when you open it up so just wash the ice tray and scoop and take a cloth with soap and water and wash the inside of the water holder and it’s good to go. I wouldn’t say it’s very portable the handle is very flimsy but it’s not too heavy to carry yourself without the handle. It makes a soft sound, kinda like a white noise machine it’s not very overwhelming like some people make it seem. And while the ice is wet occasionally, it lasts a decent amount of time in my drinks. I got this as a Mother’s Day gift for my mom and I have to say I am quite pleased. I think out of all the ones I’ve looked at this is the better option for an affordable ice maker!

A few annoyances

Not a bad ice maker. This is my first one but I have used someone else's before so at least have something to compare to. I gave it 4 stars because it works, works fast, and overall is effective for my needs. The cons are just inconveniences.

Cons:
1. The biggest one for me is the lack of alert when the water is low or the ice is full. You have to babysit these things anyway, as they are NOT freezers and your ice will just melt if you don't regularly transfer it to the freezer, but I get busy and have let my ice melt and refreeze a few times LOL.
2. Once it says low water, you can refill it but it will never restart on its own. Only way to get it to go again is to turn it off and back on. WHY? IDK maybe mine is defective.
3. The first couple batches of ice are always small and about half the count. I am not even sure how this happens as I know how the unit works. Mystery.
4. It can be pretty loud during some of its phases.

Pros:
1. It does crank out the ice pretty fast. Beats buying ice at the store. I always make 10lbs or so then store the unit in my pantry to keep it off the counter.
2. It is easy to clean
3. I think it's about as small as they get. Which is not small, but it fits on my shelf fin the pantry

Best little ice maker around!

I was hesitant about buying this ice maker, even though I had been contemplating getting one for a long time. There were just so many to choose from that I was worried I would pick a lemon. This one had a 10.00 off coupon so I picked it for that reason, and I'm so glad I did! It has made so many pounds of ice since I got it! The ice is perfect. I love that it's soft and chewable! It keeps up with our demand, which is 3 adults and 2 kids. I let it run and fill a couple of gallon bags and then turn it off till I need it again. It's quiet, until it dumps the ice that it's made, but even that isn't so loud that it bothers me. I am really, really impressed with this machine. It even came with a little ice scoop! I wish I would have gotten it a long time ago. I've only had it for a couple of months but so far, no issues. If you're on the fence, pick this one! You won't be disappointed!

Just bought this last week. Used it twice and works very well. I like the fact that you can crunch ice without hurting your teeth. Easy to crunch but keeps a long time. I left machine on over night and when I checked in the morning, I still had ice in the machine.
Also easy to drain.
