Yes, the packaging was minimal, and amazing it came undamaged. However, this is probably the best deal you can find on a bass right now, especially if you can get it on Black Friday sale or Prime Day or something. I bought it together with a cheaper Glarry bass and a Squire Classic Vibe 70's (that cost twice as much) to compare them all. The Glarry offers no competition. The Bullfighter is solid, and dare I say beautiful. The Glarry felt like a cheap toy next to it, and the neck dive on the Glarry was absurd. The Bullfighter is every bit as substantial as the Squire, has better fit and finish, offers active pickups, neck through body, and I thought it sounded better too. Much more meaty and with greater sonic variation from the controls. Playing through a Fender Rumble 100W, not my favorite, but it's what I have.
The setup was basically good-enough-for-me out of the box. (Shipped with stings detuned, of course.) The neck is very substantial, thicker than the Squire, and to me it feels good, although I'm used to thinner Ibanez necks. The fretboard inlays are unique, and quite nice I think. The fretboard feels nice to play on. The pickups are very powerful, very quiet humbuckers, and the output seems very bass-heavy with pots at neutral, but you can adjust it of course. I have noticed some clipping when I really dig into the strings, so I'm guessing the electronics may be cheap or the pickups too close to strings, but doesn't really bother me. I've seen complains about sharp fret edges, but they are perfect on the example I received. (In fact, the Squire frets jabbed my finger far more often than those on the Bullfighter.) The strings seem to have good character, not dead, although nowhere near as bright as the strings on the Squire. Can't comment on the tuners, except that they work OK, but look cheap. The pots look cheap but feel quite solid, nice resistance, good on-center feedback. The battery compartment has ample space, no messy wires, and works fine.
The wood body is attractive, although barely finished at all. "Natural" is no joke. The body is not a single piece of wood, however, and on mine that's very apparent. They did not take great care in choosing pieces with similar grain, so it has a little Frankenstein look, but hey, it's unique. If I were to do it again, I would order more than one and then choose the one that looks the best, since it seems the variation can be extreme.
The Bullfighter brand is produced by Changsha Bullfighter Musical Instrument in China, and their website is a comedy of automatic translations, but it seems like they know how to make a good bass. Longevity? Who knows.
The accessories are nice but mostly worthless. The strap is probably usable, but it's a heavy instrument, so you'll probably want something better. The gig bag is more of a dust cover. The picks... well OK. I can always use a few more picks around the house, although these are not the kind I would use to pick a bass. (I like those giant Fender picks.) I did not try the cables or the tuner, but good to have extras I suppose. The assumption has to be that these are minimum quality, though, so don't rely on them!

Cons - Packaging is substandard. Accessories were just dropped in the box loose. Bass was shipped in gig bag, protecting it, but only had one piece of styrofoam to support the neck. Finish on the body and neck is almost non-existent, feels like raw unfinished wood. A light steel wool sand and at least a satin poly finish is in order.
Overall, is a keeper. Could be better.
5 stars for sound
3 for finish and packaging.
Update: Finish is just a basic flat poly. Easily upgraded if needed. Overall, upgraded the rating to 4.

The body is Elm - nice and rare. The whole package is very cool - got a Bullfighter tuner (doesn't work so well, but whatever), 2 guitar cords, nice guitar strap, gig bag, and a tin of guitar picks. Nice little extra package.
Love the laminate construction and neck through design! The truss window is also nice, so you don't have to take the screws out to make adjustments to the neck tension. 5 knobs - plenty to play with. The active electronic system has high output.
The bass plays well, and isn't too noisy or buzzy. Pure bang for the buck! Well done and not low quality, like one might expect from such a low price. Love the Alembic looking inlays. To get all these features I desired - neck through, 5 string, active electronics - for such a low price, is very pleasing.
