5.0 out of 5 stars Great Magazine but misrepresented in description Corrected!

The magazine itself is very good and well written. They have a very diverse amount of articles to read. For example, they have nature, science, education, geography, history, and etc. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is because on the product page it says it includes a membership. I contacted Smithsonian and Amazon.com about it and they claim it is a miss print. They claim they would take it off but it is still there after two weeks. The magazine has excellent photos and stories but I am upset about the description on the product page and amazon not fixing it after two weeks. Lisa from Smithsonian contacted me and verified that membership is included for Kindle subscribers and the previous contacts were wrong about membership not being included in subscription.

I chose to rate this magazine highly because of the many wonderful, informative and thought provoking articles that is produced by the various writers. I am a middle age woman with an inquiring mind and I look for positive things to feed my mind on. I recently found the Smithsonian magazine and fell in love instantly. I love this magazine because it brings to me a wide variety of interesting topics that stimulates me to go do more research. I am being very honest here when I say that I find it hard to put the magazine away. I recommend the Smithsonian magazine to everyone - young and old, male or female, anyone who wants an interesting, riveting and timely read.

I love the range of articles and information I get from Smithsonian Magazine. From How Dogs Learn to Perry Mason!
Plus the beautiful Photography and Art that accompany the Articles. All in all a great bargain!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fake ads in the Smithsonian!?!

I enjoy reading this very informative magazine but, imagine my surprise when I was reading what appeared to be an article but started noticing that it was not well written and making preposterous claims. I went back to the article list and saw that it was listed as an advertisement. If the magazine must sell ads in order to stay in business, I wish that it wouldn't advertise obviously fake products.

I thought very well of it. I used to subscribe to Smithsonian years ago and always liked it. I have downloaded some magazines in pdf but there is always a problem over size of the text. No problem with Smithsonian on Kindle. The one thing I think that could be improved would be a listing of references and weblinks (I might have missed them somewhere). There are no ads in the Kindle version. I have mixed opinions on that. One other criticism is that often the articles seemed too short. Otherwise, I enjoyed it immensely.

I was a subscriber for years to this magazine but stopped a few years back due to cost. I thought I might pick it back up again but it is not what it used to be. It lacks something. While the magazine is doing a wonderful job at raising cultural topics and focusing on that aspect of history it is lacking in the actual foundation of the subject.

I enjoy the magazine so much... it isn't that I read every article word for word, but I do read what I'm interested in... I wouldn't be without the subscription unless I couldn't see to read it.
