About this item

Worth dyeing for.

Ten years ago, Ryan Comeaux was convicted of killing his girlfriend and was sentenced to life in prison. Now a witness has come forward who claims she was with Ryan the entire night and it’s not possible that he was the killer. But the local police assume she’s mistaken and aren’t interested in reopening what they view as an open-and-shut case.

The witness, Kelsey Spalding, has her own reasons for wanting Ryan’s conviction overturned and hires Swamp Team 3 to prove him innocent. Fortune has solved cold cases before, but never one with so little evidence and so many suspects with not only strong motive but opportunity. Can she solve a decade-old murder, or will the real killer strike again to cover his tracks?

I don't have enough superlatives to describe this book. Each time I read a Miss Fortune mystery I am again amazed at the tight weave of the story, the bits of humor and fun and the love stories all intertwined together. Baskets And Beignets is one of the very best. I applaud Jana on her plotting, character development and thorough world building. I never find a faux pas where the wrong character is referenced. Very well written.

This is a very interesting read and has lots of twists and turns leading to a lot of dead ends. One of the things I love about this story. It took me awhile to get a handle on the villain. I was probably three quarters inching closer to the ending before I figured it out. Always the characters are well developed as are newer characters who get introduced. There’s plenty of laughs to keep tensions light enough. The only complaint I had is leaving one of the regular main character’s trauma left unresolved. And that is why I will look forward to Book 28.

Always a tickle and a giggle. Never predictable and keeps you guessing. So much fun and a great pick me up read.

Delightful entertainment with serious and lighthearted moments. Great characters, loads of laughs, and the usual wonderful sidekicks. Fast paced and over too soon, we follow the Easter holiday in Sinful, resolution of a recent military event, and trying to right a 10 year old crime while managing a critical illness in a young boy are just a few things that Fortune, Ida Belle, Gertie, and Carter are facing. Wonderful series!

DeLeon's books are always on point. The Miss Fortune books are fun and hard to put down. This one is good, but some of the others are better. The comedic relief in this one is a little less amusing, but the storyline is excellent. Ronald is wonderful and I'm glad he gets more exposure, no pun intended, in these later books. Can't wait to see what's next for fortune and her 'Krewe'!

I don't know how the author thinks up all of the ludicrous situations that Gertie and Celia get into, but that doesn't stop me from cackling like a mad woman! Good mystery too.

Another exciting adventure for Fortune, Ida, Gertie, and Carter. Lots of plot twists and action, as well as humor (especially when Gertie and Celia are involved) makes this book fun and exciting to read.
