    This is my primary recording bass. I've had mine for about 12 years, trading up from the SR406. The Bartolini pups are versatile,they can do sludgy doom to delicate Spanish guitar chords. The sustain goes on forever. I also turn all the dials to 12 o'clock for an even tone that feeds into effects pedals. You can also get a great Motown sound, rich and punchy. The B string is like a bridge cable but that's a good way to develop calluses. As a bonus, you can clean the mahogany with a Pledge wipe! I can't say enough good about her. I love this bass!

    There is a lot of flexibility with the three-band EQ with a switchable mid-frequency switch. One is a high mid (800hz) and the other way is a lower mid (I think about 350 hz). Both positions are useful. The bass has a balance control for the pickups. That's much easier for quick adjustments on the fly. I bought mine as an experiment to see if I would like to play a 6er. I did upgrade to the BTB686sc model but still have my 506.
