I've never used or bought a back support belt before. I had no idea which one to buy. I looked through many reviews on Amazon before deciding upon this one and I'm happy with my purchase.

I like it for these reasons:
1. It is adjustable and fits me very well. I really like that there is a double layer of adjustable straps, that really helps me find the fit that feels "just right" for me. I ordered a size small and it's perfect for me. I'm 5'7", 133 pounds, with a 31" waist. I included pictures because I always find them helpful and to show that the belt isn't noticeable under clothing, it's even fine under the t-shirt (which is fitted). The dress I'm wearing in the picture is also a small and the belt fit fine underneath. I had thought about buying the Mueller 255 belt because it was a little cheaper but I felt concerned that I might not get as accurate of a fit since the waist range was so much larger. The reviews were also slightly less positive. I'm glad I went with this one instead.
2. The adjustable lumbar pad really makes a difference for me. I tried the belt on without it and my back pain was still noticeable. But with the lumbar pad and adjusting the belt, my back feels so much better! The relief from the pain is well worth the purchase.
3. The belt is well made and very supportive. The structure is just firm enough to offer strong core support without being restrictive.

My plan is to wear this belt occasionally, while walking and driving. I tend to have the most problems while driving. I wore it while on a long walk today and it did get warm/a little sweaty. Not super uncomfortable or surprising considering the weather and distance, but something that may be a bigger issue for some. It does not bother me much. The support is more important to me. Another consideration is that it's possible to move and bend with the brace (especially depending upon how tight you adjust it), but if that's the main purpose there might be other options that are more flexible (but may offer less support, I'm not sure).

Other items from Amazon that I bought to help my back:
* Cushion supports for my car seat (which have helped a lot). One is a wedge shaped cushion to sit on (my seat is slanted oddly and I wanted it to be more even so the wedge cushion made by Clever Yellow works well, and is available on Amazon). The other is a cushion to support my lumbar region, also available on Amazon: "Memory Foam Back Support Cushion - Designed for Back Pain Relief - Lumbar Pillow With Premium Adjustable Strap - Hypoallergenic Ventilative Mesh - Alleviates Lower Back Pain made by Xtreme Comforts." I liked it because it has a convex (rather than concave) shape... most lumbar support cushions seem to be concave and that tends to irritate my back. It was one of the only convex cushions and I love it! It's taller than most, very thick, has a removable cover, and really supports the length of my back. It does push me forward a bit, which I like in my car (I just put my seat back), but that may not be comfortable on a traditional, rolling office chair. I'm going to review both of the cushions on their pages as well. I tried another lumbar cushion by NurtureSoft but it was more concave shaped than I thought it would be and didn't work for me.
* The book Freedom from Pain by Peter Levine. I can't write much about this one yet, as I just received it today, but I'm looking forward to reading it. I've been doing Trauma/Tension Release Exercises (TRE) multiple times a day and they have really really helped me (along with gradually increasing the distance of my walks), so I'm optimistic about learning about other exercises in the book!
* Also planning on buying insoles and new shoes, as well as do Network Spinal Analysis at the chiropractor (a very gentle approach ... traditional chiropractor tends to trigger my body and make the bracing worse). I'm hoping the chiropractor might be able to suggest insoles/shoes and posture-correction apparel as well.

A month ago I was unable to move because of my back pain. It's gotten much better and I have Faith it will continue to do so! Grateful for these supportive products to help me function better along the way!! If you're reading this and in pain you're in my heart and prayers. Hope you feel better soon!!! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded Expectations.
Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2024
I originally ordered a medium according to the size chart but it felt just a little small so I ordered a large to compare. The large fit me much better. The brace is easy to put on and provides amazing support. I love that you can easily adjust how much support you want by simply adjusting the straps. This brace was excellent quality and priced appropriately. It has exceeded my expectations in regards to how much it helps with my lower back pain. Would definitely recommend this brace.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable, stabilizing belt
Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2024
I've only used it once, hence the 4 stars... It fit well, the waist sizes does correspond to the size of the belt you order. It seemed to support nicely and I was able to get quite a bit of work done. Very comfortable with wide enough belts that don't dig in to you. I like mine, it's comfortable, fits and seems to work - that's all I need!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great lower back support!
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2024
This is a life saver for me. I have a ruptured lumbar disc. If I wear this during my daily activities I will be able to actually finish them. I wear it shopping, it's a life saver for Costco. I like to garden and am able to do so. The extra triangle shape support piece is what makes this so effective for pain relief for me. It can be quite hot in the summer after a few hours of wearing so I remove it for lunch or for a rest period to cool off. I wear it over my shirt so the elastic is not directly on my skin.
It is good value for my money, performes well. It has velcro so it can be adjusted easily.
Will probably need it for a lot of years so will definitely buy again as needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Helps!
Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2024
The sizing instructions in the descriptions are very good; I purchased the perfect size. Though I will be having epidural injections to relieve the lumbar pain, this back brace helps to provide support in lieu of the back muscles that move with every motion and cause pain.

It is well made and easy to don and remove. Am pleased I purchased the beige color. Based on experience from years ago when I had a black colored brace, the beige color is not as visible through clothing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great if it would stay on
Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2024
I waited several months before writing a review so that it would be based on good research/usage. I have two torn discs and 2 bulging disks between L1-L4. If I do not keep my back straight and supported I wind up in bed for weeks.

I like the brace and it provides the support, in a comfortable fashion, that I need. THE PROBLEM IS keeping the brace on. I wear it over an undershirt to keep it close to my skin but the Velcro on the main fastener keeps coming undone... like nearly every time I try to bend/twist/sit. It works ok if I am just walking upright. The side straps have 3" wide strips of Velcro but the main belt's Velcro is just over 1" wide. It makes no sense to have 6" of Velcro (the two side straps) in opposition to a 1" strip (the main belt). Possibly my belt was defective in manufacturing and the main belt should have had a wider strip of Velcro.

I have "corrected" the situation by having a 4" band of Velcro sewn onto the main belt in place of the 1" one that was there. I purchased a different belt (not as comfortable with metal stays/plates) and it's main Velcro is 3x the area of the side straps. That makes sense.

So, unless you know someone with a heavy duty sewing machine (or unless my belt was defective) I would stay away from this belt if you plan on bending a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent support for an aching back
Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2024
The Sparthos back brace arrived new and unopened as advertised. Fairly lightweight and breathable fabric make it comfortable. I suffer from spondylolisthesis and this provides firm support when I need to put my back into something. Fitment is accurate - I measure 55" around the belly and the XL fit perfect. Not a cure all, but a must have if you suffer back issues or just want to be preemptive in saving you back from injury.
