5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING performance, good riddance to ink cartridges!!!!

2-MONTH UPDATE SINCE PURCHASE: After hundreds of pages printed for work, the ink tanks are still more than half full. The printer continues to perform flawlessly - absolutely blown away by the value of this product. I stand by the 10/10 recommendation!

Switching to the Epson EcoTank ET-2800 has been a breath of fresh air compared to the old ink cartridge printers I used to deal with. Those old printers were so frustrating, constantly running out of ink at the worst times (+ the cartridges were ridiculously expensive). Not to mention the hassle of installing them and hoping they didn’t dry out or clog. After years of dealing with my old printer, I finally trusted the reviews and made the switch!

With the EcoTank ET-2800, all that stress is gone. The cartridge-free design is a real improvement. The supertank system is easy to refill, and the ink lasts forever compared to traditional cartridges. I’ve printed countless pages without worrying about running out of ink, and the quality is fantastic, whether it’s documents or photos. Plus, it’s wireless and has scanning capabilities, making it super convenient to use with all my devices.

If you’re tired of the constant headaches that come with old-style ink cartridge printers (like I was!), the Epson EcoTank is a massive upgrade. It saves money in the long run and makes printing so much easier and stress-free. 10/10 product.

I needed a basic home printer and after hours of research decided on this one and so far it's been a breeze to use. I've only had it for a few weeks so can only assess on it's out-of-the-box performance and am quite happy with my purchase so far.

It takes a few minutes, but setting up with the ink was fairly easy, although the written instructions were not as clear as they could be so I went to YouTube for a quick tutorial. I don't have any interest in WiFi printing, so just plugged into my laptop and everything was good to go - both on my Mac and PC (no disc or app required for either). It was surprisingly easy, although a USB cable is not included so if you go this route, you will need to get one (I think it's the C2G type).

I purchased this for occasional home office use and does not need to be high quality - so for taxes, bills and basic printing needs this works great. I've only used with basic inkjet paper, so can't comment on how good the printing would be on a a higher quality paper. The color is not as vibrant as the the professional laser jet printer I use at work, but I suspect that has more to do with the paper.

The printing speed is about 10 seconds per page, so it's fine for my purposes but not might work as well for high-volume applications. And as there is not a duplex option, a double-sided print would need to be re-loaded on top of another 10 seconds of print time.

Scanner works fine for basic book-work but have not yet used for more artistic purposes so can't comment on it's quality in that respect.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a high-production printer, there are probably better options ($$$), but if you're looking for just a basic home office printer with scanner and trying to keep on budget, I would strongly recommend this one. It's light-weight, easy to use and doesn't take up much space on the desk. The ink and paper are easy to load and if you prefer plug-and-play equipment, this is perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good

I purchased the ET-2800 as a replacement for my aging Epson Artisan 837 printer. Both printers are ink-based and print black & white and color. (However, the 837 also has an Automatic Document Feeder and fax capability, whereas the ET-2800 does not. Since I rarely, if ever, use those features, this was not an issue. Note: Epson also sells the ET-4800 printer for slightly more which has ADF and Fax capability.)

    1. The ET-2800 has a much smaller footprint than the 837, so it doesn’t take up as much real estate on the desktop.

    2. The ET-2800 is feather-light compared with the 837, which is built like a tank and weighs 40-50 lbs. Hence, the ET-2800 is much easier to move and position.

    3. Print-quality is excellent. However, I’ve not done much printing, yet, printing only the obligatory test pages during setup.

    4. Installation was very straightforward. Everything went as-advertised, with no hiccups or unpleasant “surprises”.

    5. Mac compatibility was a major consideration, as I have a Mac running the latest MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Epson fully supports the ET-2800 for the Mac.

    6. At the end of installation, you need to download and install the latest drivers from Epson’s website. I downloaded the bundle (recommended), which includes drivers for print and scan, as well as utilities for things like photo printing and scanning. Once installed, the ET-2800 is integrated into and supported by the Mac.

    7. The ET-2800 is an Eco-Tank printer; it uses bottled ink instead of the conventional ink cartridges. This was my first experience with this type of printer, and I really like it. Loading the ink into each of the 4 tanks (black, yellow, magenta, and cyan) was fast and easy. There’s no mess or chance of getting ink on yourself or the printer, which can sometimes happen with traditional cartridge ink. They say the bottled ink lasts a lot longer than cartridges; refill ink is sold separately.

    8. The control panel is one area that could stand improvement. It’s on the small side, with buttons whose symbols are unconventional and in some cases, non-intuitive. Epson needs to rethink their control panel design.

    9. Possibly the worst feature is the display - it’s very small, measuring about 1-1/4 inches square. It’s small size makes it hard to read, and forces unnecessary abbreviation of messages (simply because there isn’t enough room to display a longer, more meaningful message). I feel this one area where Epson went the “cheap” route, and it shows. They would do well to spend a little more money on a larger display.

    10. Entering the WiFi password during WiFi setup is… well, painful. Again, the display is very small, and you have to cursor around, shifting the input from lower to upper case, and letters to symbols and numbers. It takes a long time to enter a reasonable password, and is highly prone to error. Fortunately, this is the only alpha-numeric input you have to deal with.

    11. It is somewhat 'noisy' (I think) compared with other printers, and might not be the best choice if a 'quiet' office environment is important. ????

All in all, I like this printer, and would buy it again.
