It works better than I expected - support is great!

This is an update to my review... I installed this on older models of the Fire Stick and it worked very well with easy installation and operation. Then I installed it on a Fire Stick 4K and it failed to work and locked up my phone. I emailed the developer and got a return email within 3 minutes. They responded: "Please change to 1920X1080 and use TextureView in AirReceiver advanced setting. This setting works best on firetvstick 4K." I did that and restarted the Fire Stick and my iPhone and all worked very well. I was more than impressed with their responsiveness and support. I can't remember ever receiving support like they gave me!

This app does absolutely nothing for you. it worked once or twice then it just crapped out.

Works great with an IPad. Just purchase App from Amazon, sync Amazon Fire TV with your Amazon digital account (via FireTV Settings); click on new App when it shows upon your FireTV main menu to install it to FireTV. The only other thing I did was change the name of the App to FireTV AirPlay.
To use it from an IPad/IPhone just bring up what you want to watch; select AirPlay (The version you named on FireTV) and select Mirror on the IPad/IPhone and you should get audio and video via your FireTV.. It does have limitations, it isn't combatable with Netflix. It works great with the ESPN App. You don't have to do anything with the Ipad/IPhone, all the changes you need are made via the AirPlay&UPnP App on FireTV.

Versatile multi-protocol app

If you're on the road, and wishing to cast a TV show from your laptop or tablet to the TV in your hotel room, what should you do? I've had poor luck relying on the native casting ability in iOS or Android, combined with the obscure requirements of the various TV's I've had. More often than not I end up watching the video on my original laptop/tablet, which feels silly when sitting adjacent to a 42" screen. This app has tilted the game in my favor, because it understands a variety of streaming and access protocols (SMB, UPnP, Chromecast, AirPlay). Installed on a Fire Stick for portability, I now always see my stuff on the large screen. For me, the app replaces the streaming receiver code in the TV (or set-top box) with its own stuff. There are many similar apps in the appstore, but this one seems to be the most generally useful.

For an AirPlay receiver, janky, but works most of the time

Setup: You've got to tick the AirPlay boxes in setup and run the app to get it working, but it does seem to keep itself alive in the background well enough. Haven't tinkered with it since installing it a few months back.

Screen casting: The video quality for mirroring is definitely rougher and laggier than you'd get on a native AirPlay device, but this seems to be the only one that actually works, so I think it gets a pass there. Works pretty seamlessly with Macbooks, iPhones, and iPads, at least on iOS 12/13.

Audio AirPlay: Audio mirroring is solid, too. The UI leaves a bit to be desired (it's the music player from Android 2.2 devices on the big screen!), but again, a pretty excusable flaw since nothing else seems to work.

Video AirPlay: Netflix AirPlay (and probably all DRM'd video if I had to guess) outright fails with an error code. YouTube works well, though.

All in all, if you're willing to tinker a bit on setup and excuse the DRM not working and questionable UI, for $3 it's a pretty useful addition to a Fire TV.

Better than AirBuddy; Video support on 5S is limited

I also reviewed the AirBuddy application. I've now purchased both apps in an attempt to get AirPlay functioning for my iPhone 5S videos on the Fire TV.
After installation, you must go into the application and change some settings. I simply checked the box labeled "AirPlay" and "Use HW Codec". Then it shows as a target for AirPlay from iOS (I'm using iOS 7.0.4, slightly older than the latest.)

It WORKS with the following:
AirMirror for Apps/Games (Tested a few--Safari web browsing, Deer Hunter 2014)
AirPlay for Music
AirPlay for Photos
AirPlay for STANDARD DEF. videos (see below: NO 'HIGH-FPS/SLOW-MO' videos)

It DOESN'T WORK with:
AirPlay of Web Videos using Safari**
AirPlay of videos recorded with High FPS (Slow-Motion on 5S) -- Fire TV shows a black screen.

(**I went to Apple.com and clicked the homepage link, and tried to view the 'Esa-Pekka teaser film' The phone states "Playing on TV" and no video is shown on either device. The Fire TV had a black screen at this point.)

Note that I tried the items that didn't work with and without the "Hardware Codec" option enabled within the AirReceiver options menu.

Overall I would recommend this app over AirBuddy for sure, as AirBuddy (at the time of writing) didn't have AirPlay mirroring support.

I hope this helps! Just hoping I can save someone from spending their money and being unhappy with the functionality.

UPDATE 07/13/2014:
I had originally commented here regarding the developer's name being ambiguously listed as "Developer". Since my original review, however, the dev appears to have changed the name! It is now listed as "龙方儿" much better than simply "Developer"! Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you how to pronounce it -- but in case you are curious, it appears to translate to "Dragon fang children")
