About this item

♪ Remo Head: This open-back banjo kit is flawlessly designed with a Remo head. The professional retro imitation animal skin; is warm and retro tone, delicate, transparent, with moderate overtones. The head is secured with 24 chrome-plated brackets and resting on the Remo's head is a beautiful 5/8" maple/ebony bridge for superior string vibration transfer.
♪ Sound - The open back produces a more mellow, softer sound, and since the sound chamber rests against the player, some of the sounds are absorbed into his clothing and the player’s body, which lowers the banjo’s volume
♪ Adjustable Bracket - 24 brackets ensure even head panel tension to fusion melodious percussion timbres by gently beating on the head, It can be adjusted according to the sound you want
♪ Geared 5th Tuner and Adjustable Truss rod: This 5-string banjo also includes a geared 5th string tuner, typically found on more expensive banjos. The geared 5th tuner is an upgrade over the common friction tuner, providing more accurate tuning and less slippage. The adjustable truss rod allows you to adjust the neck, ensuring it remains straight
♪ Mulucky Banjo Kit: The 5-string banjo kit comes with a full-size banjo x1, spare strings set x1, tuner x1, tuning wrench x2, fingerpick x4, strap x1, cleaning cloth x1, and gig bag x1, ruler x 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite of 5 banjos

Bought this on a whim because it was my fifth banjo, but it was cheap so why not check it out? I didn't expect it to become my favorite. All my other banjos cost more so they should be better, right? Well not this time.

It rings clearer and warmer without tuning the head, and I have a head tuner. All my other banjo heads are tuned but I won't even touch this one. If it sounds good don't mess with it.

These guys thought of everything to get you sounding like you're riding a bale of cotton on a steam packet. It's an absurdly good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent beginner banjo for the price, garbage accessories
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2023
Is this an amazing quality banjo? Absolutely not. You get what you pay for. But it's decent enough to learn on. It's got a pretty good sound and looks nice. I wish it came with instructions on how to install the bridge, but with a little Googling, you can figure it out.

However, the accessories are terrible. The strap I got looks nothing like the nice plain one in the picture. The one I got is a jarring pattern of puke green and orange. It's truly awful. And the finger picks also suck. The tuner turns on but doesn't pick up pitches properly at all.

You might as well add some decent finger picks and a strap to your car with this banjo, and download a free tuner app.

TLDR; Keep the banjo, put the accessories straight in the trash.

I wasn't too sure given the price, but I took a chance. I used to play banjo and know what they are supposed to feel like. I wanted an open back and took a chance on this one. Everything is great. The neck angle is fine. The action is comfortably low. I can play all the way up the neck without buzzing. My goal was to see if I wanted to pick up the instrument again, so I didn't want to invest much. This surpassed my expectations. The neck is smooth to my hand. The fret edges are filed smooth. The tuning machines hold well. There is a plastic measuring piece that sits on the neck so you can figure out where you should set the bridge. The bridge is one of the heaviest I have seen, but it does the job and sounds good. So that is the point. They don't tell you to put the angled side facing the fingerboard, so it took me a moment to remember that. That is to keep the bridge from tipping as you tune. There is a set of extra strings that was wound up so tight and unmarked I just tossed them. It would be hard for a beginner to figure out which string goes where. So if you are a beginner, pick up an extra set or two of strings to keep around. You will likely over tighten an pop a string. It happens to us all. The gigbag is a nice fit and they include the tools you might need to adjust the tension of the neck should you need to. But I did not need to. The tuner works. Overall it is an excellent beginners banjo. Throw the picks away. They are laughably bad. But I sort of expected them to be. I did not open the strap. So no comment on that.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's actually pretty good

I bought it for parts, I needed hooks and shoes in a hurry and this was the only way to get them in time for what I was doing. For being as cheap as it was though, it's a legit banjo. I played it a good while before I stripped it and it played well.
It's the sort of banjo you get when you don't know if you're going to actually be interested in banjos or you're a guitarist who just wants one around to mess with and it's fine.
The gig bag is ok too, but the tuner and finger picks are no good at all

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprised!!

I must confess, this banjos quality far exceeds my expectations. I purchased this banjo for my break times at work. A light functional banjo was my hope for practice while on my breaks. I am surprised and happy with this product.
Notes: setup required 30 minutes. I removed tension on the strings until the bridge fit without much pressure on the head. The guide is very close to proper placement but not exact. You will need to check placement by viewing bridge setup videos on YouTube.
Next I used a drum dial to tighten the head to 90. Recommended set between 89 to 91 for your banjo head. This required 20 minutes of tightening individual tension hoops.
After getting the head close to 90. Tune your strings several times each. Once you tune string one, the tuning changes once string two is tuned and so forth. Once you have each string tuned, check the head again with the drum dial.
Good luck. I recommend this banjo for beginners and for anyone needing a travel banjo.

Great sound, nice setup. That's what counts.
I'll live with the scars on the inside of the rim where the maple veneer was sanded away. There is a lighter colored wood showing through. That's ok, the sound is good and loud. I'll live with the strange maple looking veneer glued to the edge of the rim. It's not sticking in a few places. I'll get some super glue in there to fix it. The neck is beautiful with a nice fret job and binding. I like the shape of the neck - neither too thick or thin, just right. The peghead is the thinnest peghead I've ever seen on a banjo. It's probably sturdy but I plan on putting a peghead veneer on. And while I'm doing that I will install some $50 planetary tuners. The tuners that it came with are too close to the edge thus pinching my fingers when I tune it. Plus one of them is slipping already. For this price I knew they'd be junk. But I'm very happy with the hefty weight of the rim, the nice metal hoop, the brackets and the neck, and everything is nicely lined up, and a bone nut!! The bag's zipper was broken but I'll be getting a better bag or box for it. I'm glad I bought it, even with the quirks.

I’ve never been the most musical but I’ve been around quality instruments from a young age. After ordering the travel size and the full size open back I’m very happy with the quality of both! Doesn’t feel like a toy. I did buy new strings from a local music store but the set that comes with are perfectly fine steel strings that do the job!
