Smooth Casting and Reeling, well built and light weight

I bought one of these fishing rod/reel a few years ago. I have used it a lot and it worked great and still does. I bought this one to have a little longer pole and I liked that it was carbon fiber so it is even lighter weight. Only negative I can think of is if you pull too hard when expanding the tip, it can require a little effort to collapse it again.

Great Multi Species Rod - 1 Year Re-Review

****Quick update.**** In the past year I have tried telescopic rods from multiple different manufacturers now (bass pro private label, king cast, EOW, and others) trying to see if there are better options out there. This Plusino combo is still tops in my opinion. Reel is still working, though it is starting to show some age 1 year and 400+ fish later. Bail doesn’t snap closed any longer and bearings aren’t as smooth, but this thing has been in the bed of my truck rolling around since the day I bought it. It still works too. Just landed. 4lbs bass on it this week.

The rod however didn’t last the full year. It did snap on me after about 70 or so trips out. BUT, it was not entirely due to an issue the rod. I got one of my favorite lures caught in a tree and spent about 15 minutes trying like crazy to jerk it free. I put way too much stress on the rod tip and it finally snapped. After trying a few other collapsible rods with the Plusino reel, I ended up going back to this same rod. It really is just the best.

My original review is listed below and I still stand by it. Completely worth the money.

Used this little guy about 20+ trips already and I have been loving it. It was originally just going to be my back up rod, but it is so convenient I keep it in my truck at all times and now it’s the only rod i use.

I threw 6lbs spiderwire on it and I can feel everything my lure is doing in the water. Also, feel every little nibble, bite, and I know exactly when the fish is on.

Pulled in a couple 1.5-2 pounders on this set up and the fight is just fun. Even that occasional angry runner bluegill makes you feel like you’re reeling in a big ol slab.

Super durable so far. I let it roll around the truck bed, pull up to a random spot on the side of the road, drop the line in the water, and have literally had zero issues (knock on wood). Easily landed 100+ fishing ranging from 1/2” guppy to 16” bass and this rig just keeps on working.

As I said, I love this thing.

Im relatively new to fishing so this was a good learning experience. The pole bends pretty good so you won’t have to worry about breaking it. The line that comes with is mono and is not the best but it works. Casting distance with the line is about 50-60 feet at most with the bait it comes with. Overall a perfect one to start out with.

Great rod for traveling! Fits easily in a suitcase when collapsed. Feels like a good sturdy rod when in use. Reel is smooth, bail quit easily flipping automatically after about 250+ casts but that always seems to happen with my gear. Overall: Awesome. I will be purchasing more for friends!

Honestly the reel is absolutely great and smoother than my more expensive reels. Had my doubts when purchasing but the telescopic rod is great also. Fits in my bag and I can take it with me when I wanna ride out on my dirt bike or supermoto. For the price it’s a great deal but I’m still surprised how good the reel it self is.

I am not a pro fisherman but I learned fishing with my Dad and I've caught plenty.

As a rod and reel I this is a nice rod, it's got a good feel in the hand, it's closer to an ultra light but not quite ultra, like micro sub 6 foot pole with 1oz weight casting limit

The reason I chose it is obviously the telescoping abity and this is absolutely an amazing marvel of technology, I feel blessed to have it really. It's simple, seems like it would last if taken care of and cleaned, and putting it together and back was quick and kinda mesmerizing. It gets so small it's like a wand, a foot long stick, and the reel of course, which I kept both of their boxes. If their is a caveat, maybe the rings seem susceptible to damage if the rod sack is not kept safe or in the box.

I am retired and occasionally go fishing. Not so much to catch fish, but to get a little exercise as the doctor recommends, and, to be outside in beautiful Virginia. I thought these would be a great alternative to have in my truck on the occasion I saw a good fishing hole. Because of my disability I can't drive long distances and so I have to stop pretty regularly to keep my knees from locking up. What a way to do that: Fishing for a little while. Well, to these poles and reels. I got them, put one of them together, took it apart, bagged it back up and sent it back. The quality seemed Ok, the truth is in the fishing, but I didn't like the way they extend and retract. Like a two-piece rod, these have 6ish miniature rods you have to pull out, line up and hope you have them snug. Then, when you are done, you have a length of line you have to keep from getting tangled as you struggle to get them loose without breaking the small ends of the rod. Just too much hassle, too much chance for breaking it or tangling line or not getting them set right. The reel seems Ok.. but never tested. Very compact and would be a great product with some engineering adjustments. Like being able to lock the rod sections in place after extending, small grooves/guides to keep the pole section from spinning around and tangling line. Just not for me. I will just carry around my 2-piece ugly stick and a few lures. BTW. the lures (untested) looked Ok. the plastic bait looked pretty cheap.. so don't count on the tackle being great, get your own

Bought this pole mostly because I do a lot of hiking and wanted something light and compact that I could strap to my backpack instead of carrying… The action on these poles is great… I actually prefer it to some of my one piece poles.. caught the fish in the picture (about 10lbs.) with this pole and had to get it through about 40 feet of heavy vegetation… A lesser pole would have snapped in half. The reel works as well as more expensive ones I have..very smooth.. so overall good quality & value for the price ????
