About this item
Now a number 1 Amazon Bestseller!
The price of love is loss.
We all pay it eventually…
In every life…
Some moments are too painful to be endured.
Some moments will break you if you let them.
And yet I can’t afford to let anything break me. Because we have one chance to win this war. One chance to create a better life for everyone across the four kingdoms.
Even as our enemies ally with each other, and our own allies are forced to betray their kingdoms, their people…and themselves.
And even as Regner plans something so cruel, so wholly evil, he’s poised to douse the last remaining spark of hope in this world.
Unless we kill him first.

At times, the pace dragged thru lots of interpersonal drama and internal monologues that got a bit old. And i started skipping thru the obligatory love scenes because thats not really my thing, but for readers who like lots of spice - you will get plenty.
I loved how real the characters felt, all the different personalities and challenges each faced, though I felt like Prisca was left a big in the dust in this book. It was more about Asinia and Madinia, and that was a bit frustrating. But I still could enjoy their stories too.
Speaking if Madinia... When does her book come out? I will have to keep an eye out for it.
Also, Stark did a great job wrapping up all the loose threads - besides the ones she clearly left hanging for future books. Thats always nice to feel like you know exactly where things are when you finish a story like this.
Finally though... Its BOLTS. Sorry but this drove me bonkers every time Asinia used an 'arrow' in her crossbow. Crossbows have bolts, not arrows. Its bows that use arrows. But I suppose I can see how that could be missed. Not really a big deal, honestly.
Anyway, read this series. Its a fun adventure, well written and executed beautifully.
I personally liked this series much much more than the ACOTAR books, but I do think it’s telling that my favorite character in SJM’s books is Nesta, and now my fave from this series is Madinia. What can I say, I love vengeful “bitchy” heroines who thrive on rage and avoid their feelings. It’s a mood and I cannot wait to read about her adventures.
All in all, a very sweet ending with some super compelling action sequences as well. Stark does not get enough credit for the way that she writes combat—I find it engaging, exciting, and easy to follow, which can be a tough balance to achieve.
This novel excels in weaving together themes of love, war, and identity, creating a tale that is both heart-wrenching and exhilarating.
The book's foundation is built upon several powerful tropes, including forced proximity and a slow-burn romance that simmers beneath the surface of a world at war. Stark's deft handling of these elements ensures that the story remains engaging and deeply emotional, as the characters navigate the complexities of their relationships while facing external threats.
Central to the narrative is the concept of found family, which adds warmth and depth to the characters' interactions. As they battle grief and confront hidden identities, the bonds they forge become a source of strength and resilience. The inclusion of fated mates adds a layer of destiny and inevitability to the romance, intensifying the connection between the protagonists.
Stark doesn't shy away from epic battles and the harsh realities of war, which are portrayed with vivid detail and gripping intensity. These scenes are balanced by moments of spice and tenderness, ensuring that the romance remains a focal point amidst the chaos.
The journey culminates in a happy ending that feels both earned and satisfying, providing a sense of closure that resonates with the reader. Stark's ability to blend emotion and action, combined with her knack for crafting memorable characters, makes this book a standout in the fantasy genre.
*A Queen This Fierce and Deadly* is a testament to Stacia Stark's storytelling prowess, offering a tale that captivates the heart and mind. With its rich narrative and unforgettable characters, this book is a must-read for fans of epic fantasy and slow-burn romance.
The final battle? Epic doesn’t begin to cover it. Sparks flew, and not just from the clashing swords. Lorian’s journey to self-acceptance is the stuff of legend, proving that even the most bloodthirsty prince can find his inner peace.
The theme of found family shines brightly, with brothers making peace and everyone coming together as one. Madini’s character growth is astounding—I’m holding out hope for more of her in the future. And Kaliera? Girl, bye. Good riddance!
The romance and spice are as hot as ever, adding just the right amount of heat to this gripping tale. Even though the main plot was nicely wrapped up, I’m left with burning questions about Calysian. Are we going to find out more about this mysterious character?
Stacia Stark, thank you for wrapping up the Kingdom of Lies series with such flair. Ready for your next adventure!
