This is an EXCELLENT product. The whole family loves it. We do store the ice in freezer too, and using 1 gallon zip-lock bags is good for that. Just be sure to push out as much air from the bag before you zip it closed. That frozen ice is a bit harder, but not much and does soften up after a brief time in the drink. If it does freeze a bit into a block, a sharp, short drop of the bag onto the counter breaks it up just fine. We are looking into better, stronger, longer reusable silicon bags for this.
It is just a tad noisy. Much less than we ever expected. Just a bit more noise than the built-in unit in our freezer. Even less noise than a reasonable person would expect - when properly used. And, the noise we hear is the ice dropping into the basket. That gets less as the basket fills up and the drop is not so deep. People need to read the complete product description and then the manual. Really hardly a problem. Less noise than a desk fan on low. IMHO People complaining about the noise are doing something wrong, perhaps not letting the refrigerant settle before using it (and after it would have been tipped like in shipment or when moving it around) as is DOES say in the manual. No odd taste. Really cannot say anything bad about it - just one really minor matter:
I had a question about the on/off button. It does not fully turn off the machine. I asked Amazon support chat. That STUPID chat said to return the machine for refund. No option to replace it. But it works perfectly otherwise. So I contacted the Oraimo support team. They replied in less than 24 house and said: " ... the on/off button is to stop the ice maker and put it into standby mode, if you want the ice maker to stop working completely you need to unplug it! ... The problem you are experiencing with the blinking ice making light is due to our previous program settings. We have now improved the standby situation by changing the blinking ice maker light from the original version to all lights being off. ... Merry Christmas "
I let the machine sit for 3 days before opening. Read the complete manual before plugging it in. NO PROBLEMS in 10 days of almost constant use.
