A while ago, I purchased a small, round dehumidifier intended for small rooms, and I wanted something that could work for my entire 1100 sq. ft. condo. When I purchased this, there were no reviews. Suddenly, I'm seeing over 400 reviews, none of them really talking about the humidifier itself.
The claims the unit is whisper quiet are absolutely wrong. It has a pretty loud persistent whirring sound due to the fans. Even with the unit positioned in the hallway, it's still quite bothersome hearing it in the bedroom around the corner all day. It's too loud to leave it running unabated. A lot of buttons also don't do what you think they should: the night mode simply turns off most of the lights. But the blue light from the button panel remains on, which absolutely would be annoying in a bedroom at night! And the mode does nothing to reduce the speed of the fans or volume!
And then there's the performance. Over the same amount of time, this pulls far less water than my smaller dehumidifier, which runs quieter, not the 3-4x performance advertised. I placed it before the intake of my air conditioner to ensure the A/C has dry air going in. My previous unit, smaller, quieter, and lighter, drew more water. It also had a longer cord - the cord here is so short you can only place the unit a few feet away from the outlet. Removing the water is a bit cumbersome as the plastic tray needs to get removed from the back, and the top of it is unhinged, flying off very easily. The top tray features an automatic shutoff feature, but I can't imagine how long you'd have to run this thing to fill up the tank. Running it for 10 hours barely filled the bottom of the tray, and humidity was actually increasing as it ran. Wow. And one last small gripe, but still important to note, the handle has no lip, so if you were carrying the whole unit from the small handle in the back, it feels very easy to drop.
The only saving grace for this unit is its ability to read temperature and humidity, but there are much cheaper devices capable of doing that seprate from the humidifier. Even ones that connect to wifi/bluetooth! You could purchase a better humidifier and a more feature-rich temperature/humidity monitor for the same price as this unit.
Even with a steep coupon, this unit still cost me 2-3x more than other humidifiers which operate far better. It takes a lot to get me to write a review for a product, but I seriously cannot recommend this unit in its current state to anyone. I think I'll just purchase another small unit and place it in a different room rather than trying to "upgrade."
